2010 Volvo XC70 2.4 182 hp, turbocharged inline-5 diesel

Summary:

Reliable workhorse with a powerful diesel

Faults:

• Turbo hose fitting came loose and needed replacing.

• Diesel pump for heater died due to corrosion.

• One rear park assist sensor died.

General Comments:

Spacious, comfortable and powerful family estate that can take the entire family wherever you want to go. Tons of room in the boxy boot, and easily pulls heavy trailers – just remember to shift into manual mode when hauling heavy loads to avoid overheating the transmission. AWD performs fairly well in winter and the timed heater is great – as long as you remember to turn it on.

Compared to our new car it feels a bit dated, but considering its introduction was way back in 1998 (in the form of the S80) it holds up remarkably well.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Your 2010 XC70 is not the same generation as the S80 original one. The 1998 S80 was a P2 (platform 2) platform, while the 2007-2016 V70, XC70 and S80 were the P3 platforms - quite different to the P2 ones.
