1982 Daihatsu Charade XG 1.0 petrol

Summary:

An excellent low-budget 4 wheeler!

Faults:

Suspensions often cause a problem.

Front Axle gives trouble due to bad road tracks.

General Comments:

On the whole this is an excellent low-budget car if you want to own a used vehicle.

Fuel Consumption is excellent. While running on petrol, my car gives approximately 12 kilometers per liter, while when running on LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) it gives 20 kilometers per kg very easily.

The body is tough and can survive minor accidents.

Availability of genuine parts is a problem as compared to other Daihatsu Charade models. Parts are a bit expensive as well.

Charade is no doubt one of the best vehicles available in 1.0 category. However the G10 series is a bit difficult to afford as compared to G11. I would say that you should try newer models of Charade and experience the difference.

I've owned a 1979 Charade, bought brand new by my father, and then passed it on to my brother. It has been stolen while parked on a quiet street last year and we are still crying. She ran very well for her whole life, but had some overheating problems, even after that problem was "fixed". I'd buy another one, but now I own a Datsun 310 (another "oldie").

1986 Daihatsu Charade Standard 1.0 Standard petrol

Summary:

Mean Machine

Faults:

The engine required overhauling after about 1000000 Kilometers.

General Comments:

The Daihatsu Charade is one of the best and fastest 1000cc cars I've ever driven! In the huge amount of time I've owned it, if raced with Suzuki Swifts (1.0), Cultus (1.0) and even Corollas (1.3) and Civics(1.5).. and won!.. That too on a standard engine.

I have already opened up the exhaust and installed an air-intake.

I'm planning to soup it up and get this baby Turbocharged.. in addition to a full body-kit and 13" 195s.. and then see what it does to the rest of them on the road..

Get ready for the ultimate charade.. you track racers in Karachi!!

Hi! I'm also from Pakistan.

I read your review about this car and I find it very funny.

"Mean Machine"?! a small car equipped with a little 1.0 engine??? You must be joking!

The 1986 Daihatsu Charade 1.0 Standard, beyond to be my first car, that I bought in 1995-1998 it's one of the worst and slowest cars I ever driven.

I can say this because I have owned another Japanese car with 1.0 engine: 1990 Suzuki Swift 1.0 during 1998-2001

Actually, I drive a powerful, economic and smooth 1993 Daewoo Racer 1.5, that I bought in 2001 and I want to stay with it for one more year, it's the fastest and best car I ever driven... so far, but one day who knows what will be my best car, I hope that I will drive a BMW 3-Series.

1987 Daihatsu Charade CX 1.0 Mannual

General Comments:

This is quiet a relaiable and cheap car, runs more than 20 Kmph and diesel is also cheap. Very nice interior.

1988 Daihatsu Charade CS 993 Non turbo

Summary:

Charade Kicks ASS

Faults:

Nothing is wrong with my car, cause i keep it uptodate and am a patient driver.

General Comments:

CHARADES are DAiHARD driven cars. They are for those people only who really know how to have fun with the machine properly.

Repair costs are nominal and parts aren't had to find.

Low cost, low budget solution for the one with the need for speed and control.

I used to have a charade around 1980, and was looking for some more technical information.

In particular I would have liked info. or a link to original performance figures, speed for each gear per 1000 rpm, engine designation, bhp, torque figures etc.

I appreciate there must be spares problems because the car is now so rare, but good luck with this great little car - hope you can keep her going!

1988 Daihatsu Charade GTXX 1.0 twin cam 12v efi turbo

Faults:

Replacement of the turbo required.

Replacement of the front shocks.

Replaced the old head of the engine with a new one, complete and nothing else.

We have these cars as a very rare cars in Karachi and whenever I take it on the road people like to watch the way it goes out of the sight in few seconds. I have taken out the muffler so the noise is enormous, but in the end I never dream dream of having another car.

General Comments:

The best budget car money can buy.
