2005 Toyota Hi-lux E 2.4 turbo diesel

Summary:

The truck is in a class of it's own! big yet classy

Faults:

At 200kms I noticed that there were rust formation on the bed of the car, particularly on the corners.

According to the dealer it was just stains, they were happy to paint the whole bed so no big deal.

General Comments:

The truck is really nice and roomy.

My knees would usually hit the drivers seat when seated at rear. But this one is really roomy.

The engine power is just right, fuel economy is 10kms/liter in heavy city traffic.

I'm not happy though with the rear suspension, it's really stiff and bouncy.

If the rear suspension was as soft as a car, the vehicle would not be able to carry heavy loads.

1994 Toyota Hi-lux 2.4L diesel

Summary:

High revolutions

Faults:

The piston rings got busted. I had them replaced.

Before I really rolled the road, I replaced all the engine belts and tension bearings. I also replaced the water pump because it leaked.

General Comments:

Well, my hilux is really tough. My friends and I usually go out of town. We are here in the Philippines, so not all the roads are paved. We went to Sagada, Baguio, Banaue, La Union, Vigan, Subic, Hundred Islands, Batangas, Camarines Norte and Sur.

We usually go night outs in the Manila and Makati cities. We go where we want to go even if the roads are flooded.

I usually go to sustained high RPM's like 3500 to 4000 at high speeds, even to unpaved roads. That's how I drive, I can destroy something that's not tough. My hilux is tough.

1994 Toyota Hi-lux 2.4 diesel

Summary:

It is a tough vehicle.

Faults:

The engine was overhauled after 2 years of use. The pistons, piston rings, oil seals and valves were worn out.

General Comments:

The suspension is really tough on road and off road.

It runs on high speeds like 140 km/hour at high revolutions of 4000 rounds per minute.

I use 215 60 R16 tires for better handling.

Just want to ask if someone could help me with my 1992 SURF with 2.4L engine, auto trans. My trans shifting is delay and won't shift automatically especially when I am over taking... thank you in advance...june.

I own a Surf SSR-X '92 auto trans model. The only problem is over heating whenever I hit steep roads. What causes this problem? Thanks.

The cooling system most likely. Maybe a thermostat or a blocked radiator.
