2017 Chery QQ TE 0.8L

Summary:

It is the cutest, smallest, cheapest car in SA!!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car so far. I know I had not driven it for long - but I can tell you that once you realize that the engine is VERY small, you should apply this car only for short distances and at a decent speed too (like 60 or 80 km/hr). It should treat you well, and keep your wallet rather full.

It is like a "student car". It is at least a nice car to look at and you can get where you want from A to B without having to walk.

General Comments:

It is a lovely car to park. It stays within the speed limits on our roads. Try to avoid highways where you want to be cool and drive 120 km/hr, if for short distance it should be fine - otherwise you will get rattles/faults etc. Remember it is built for local driving.

The car is noisy, but again - for the price and for the application, it is far better than to walk!!!

I love my QQ and will drive it with TLC and it will treat me well too ;-)

2007 Chery QQ TXE 1.1

Summary:

Nightmare

Faults:

My alternator malfunctioned after 10000 km, and the dealer refused to replace it free of charge.

Airbag light stays on. The dealership can't find the problem. I gave up asking to repair it after four years. I doubt the airbag even works now.

The seats broke twice. The dealer replaced it. I had to wait twelve months per chair, and on top of that the chair was the wrong size.

The air conditioner control unit malfunctioned after 6 months of purchase.

I have a book of the list of problems that I got within the first year of ownership, amounting to over 30 000 Rand. The car is definitely not worth what I paid for it. I can't even sell it, as the resale value of the car is less than 25% of what I still owe on the car.

This is the worst car ever.

I agree with you 100%. My fiancé has one and it's the biggest piece of crap.

Spark plug leads just break out of nowhere.

Dashboard caved in and crumpled up.

Interior plastics crack and fall off. Everything rattles.

Shifting gears is harsh and clunky.

Shocks are shot. Handling is terrible.

Front headlights fog up.

Yesterday the alternator packed up.

All of this and more, and the car's got a full service history with Chery. We are trying to sell the car, but it's worth 25% less than what we owe on it.

I WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY A CHERY OR RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!

I'm sorry you have had such a bad experience. Mine is completely the opposite. I've had my car since 2009. She has 98000 km on her and I had the brake switch replaced within the first year. The front brakes were done at 75000km. Still have not had to replace the back brakes.

The battery packed up after four years and had that replaced.

The dash does not do well in the sun and did crumble, but the dealer replaced it at no cost to me, and it happened after my warranty was over after three years.

I will definitely buy another.

2009 Chery QQ 1100 TXE 1.1

Summary:

Has it all without leather seats

Faults:

Airbag light came on and stayed on. Dealer fixed it pronto.

General Comments:

I live in South Africa, my model is the 1100 auto-semi TXE, drive 44kms daily, we are 3 in our little pool car club.

This performs well, uphill it battles, and it traffic less than 10km/h, the computer battles to decide let go or grip the clutch. Above 10km/h no problems.

AC makes COLD, radio good, USB no issues -- yet.

Fuel consumption is good. The 35 liter tank gets me 520kms.

At 120km/h the car feels safe, and the ABS works WELL!

Interior looks nice, love it, feels solid, but a rattle from the passenger cab irritates the living daylights out of me, I never get to sit that side to have someone drive it for me...!

Seats are OK, with seat covers you may slide off a bit. Interior is spacious. Very surprised.

The boot is small, your chocolate slabs will fall through the little openings down where the spare wheel is, only for you to find them 2 weeks later melted.

Steering; soft and powerful.

Dash display - good.

Semi automatic shift close, easy to handle. Automatic switch auto on off in front of the handbrake at arm's length.

I feel a bit intimidated, because of the small Chery's looks from outside, you will get people chasing your rear because you are MUCH smaller, hence the big spacious interior, but this car (1100) can keep up with others without putting the fuel pedal down all the time, but personally, this car does as best with road rage as any other bigger car!!.
