1991 Mitsubishi Pajero 4D 56 2.5 intercooler turbo

A good vehicle to own

Power steering oil developed a leak. Was repaired, but still has to be topped up every now and then.

Alternator nuts have to be tightened often.

Frequent oil top ups.

Steering is a bit dodgy.

Can be proudly driven anywhere, from thick jungles to 5 star hotels.

I don't have a comment as such, but would appreciate some advice. I am a proud owner of a 1990 Pajero 4D - 56 Automatic. I am having a perennial problem with the flywheel breaking/snapping around the nuts almost every 1-1.5 months. The effect is obviously terrible on running costs. Can anyone help???

I had the same problem with my 1992 2.5 TD Pajero LWB. That, and the teeth kept being stripped by the starter motor. Replaced the flywheel with a used one from a wrecker for $50 (plus lots of my own labour). Never had the problem again - must have had a defective flywheel!
