2004 Citroen C2 GT 1.6 16v

Faults:

When reversing, the rear brakes seem to be rubbing, sometimes causing the car to squeal! I've read that this is a common fault on the car, so I'm not too worried as of yet.

As I start the car, the dashboard display shows the oil levels,. I'm not sure how accurate this is as mine seems to change every time I turn the key from being empty to full - (resulting in me manually checking the oil levels via the dipstick at least once everyone couple of weeks just as a precaution).. quite annoying!

This car is definitely not for the picky person; I've never heard such a noisy interior, the storage drawers both rattle endlessly, but nothing compared to the inner storage area on the bottom section of the tailgate.

General Comments:

The car itself is amazingly slick and stylish.. I own a red C2 with the ltd GT white alloy rims, a real combination for a 'headturner'.. the sporty seats are more than comfortable and definitely hold you down if you decide to open 'her' and head for country lanes, bringing me to my next point; the car's handling is amazing! You can go around roundabouts at whatever speed you choose, and not worry about roll or wallowing of the car thanks to its stiffened suspension and undercar strut brace.

The doors running strip is a good feature to protect them, but on my car they have been poorly fitted; you can hold them and shake them about, and even hear them rattle slightly when the windows are down at low speeds; quite annoying.

Being 20 myself and looking my age (COUGH! I've been told people!! haha).. I seem to get a lot of looks wherever I drive as if to say "he obviously isn't insured",. well I can safely say I am and at a surprisingly low rate as I have 0 claims bonus. The bill came in a snip over £1000,. which for a 1.6 16v I'm told is good, and all because it's only insurance group 6!

So if you're looking for a small, smart looking car and don't want to break the bank, I would 100% recommend this car, as long as you don't mind a rattly car, (I just turn the CD player up, it works a treat LOL)

2004 Citroen C2 LX 1.4 hdi

Summary:

Very good reliable small car

Faults:

I have had this from new, and I have not had one problem with it; very reliable.

General Comments:

This car is very quick for a small car.

Very low running costs.

The inside is a bit small, but you can still fit a lot in. I had a child, a bike, a hoover, and shopping in it at one time.

The front seating is comfortable, but the back seats can be uncomfortable for adults, because of the tight space.

2004 Citroen C2 VTR 1.6

Summary:

Good motor, but could be better

Faults:

I purchased the car in march 2006 and after washing the car I heard the horrid whirring noise from the rear brakes, this only happens when the car is in reverse and is wet, but can be cured with a good dowsing of brake cleaner over the calipers.

The car was then recalled for a gearbox fault with the software and was rectified.

The car tells you what gear you are going to be in and not what you want it to be in, as I like to set off in first gear, but the c2 likes second gear to start, and sometimes is slow to select reverse or neutral.

A strange whistling noise has now appeared from the engine when driving, but not when it is parked.

The viscous fan stayed on one day after it was parked up, I thought it was just cooling down, but the fan did not stop, so I restarted the car and the fan stopped and its not happened since.

The climate control stayed lit and operational even after the key was removed, but again after a restart with the key the problem righted itself.

General Comments:

This car is great to drive and is quick off the mark and will give other motors a run for their money.

The interior is smart and funky with all the gadgets of air con and climate control as well as cruise control and the sliding rear seats.

To me most of the faults that seem to occur are mainly electrical and after a turn off and re start interval the faults seem to right themselves or most of mine do anyhow.

Failing that remove the battery for 10 minutes to let the car reset and reboot and problems should clear.
