2000 Citroen Saxo VTR 1.6 petrol

Summary:

Pocket rocket

Faults:

No real faults apart from a strange creaking from the nearside which is the front inner splash guard missing a fastner - due to going through puddles at speed during the recent floods!

General Comments:

Has now been tuned by LAD in Morecambe and is quicker than a VTS.

Better torque and really comes on song after 4000 rpm (85 mph).

Unseen mods - still Group 7 insurance!

Do it!

2000 Citroen Saxo VTR 1.6 petrol

Summary:

Hot hatch all rounder

General Comments:

Just gotten the car and got used to it. Reading reviews I was concerned about the cramped pedals. Being 6'4" and size 12 shoes, I haven't yet had a problem, although I do need to wear trainers for driving. But this is the only complaint of the car. The car is incredible for its price, I only paid 9300 including the extras for metallic paint and other stuff. So if you want a fastish car, with cheap as anything insurance, you can't go wrong with this.

2000 Citroen Saxo VTR 1.6

Summary:

Wonder machine!

Faults:

The handbrake soon went way out of adjustment, but it was easily fixed by the dealer.

General Comments:

Cheap (I payed £8995 for mine), great fun and very fast but...... knowing you can buy a faster one in the VTS does spoil it a little for me.

2000 Citroen Saxo VTR 1.6 petrol

Summary:

Go and get one

Faults:

Nothing at the moment - fingers crossed.

Although it does pull to the left when braking, I will have to get that one checked out.

General Comments:

A superb little car, it's got great performance along with good looks. I much prefer the new front end.

I love driving it, it sticks to the road and you can corner at speed. Not the fastest car on the road by any stretch of the imagination, but what you get for the money, you can't argue with.

The insurance grouping is also a bargain, at insurance group 6 it won't cost an arm and a leg to insure.

I'd like to see an improvement in the brakes department though, my previous car, a Saxo SX had the same problem. Spongy and not very responsive. Considering it has all round discs I find the stopping distances quite poor. Especially when compared with my other car, a Fiesta Zetec which has superb brakes.

All in all I love it, and would recommend it to anybody looking for a small, nippy, fun to drive and not too heavy on the wallet little car!

2000 Citroen Saxo VTR 1.6i 8v petrol

Summary:

Buy one... buy one NOW!

Faults:

The clips which hold the front wheel arch liners in place have come away, but that was in heavy rain so I figure that's not a big deal.

General Comments:

I had to wait nearly 2 weeks after the quoted delivery date because the first car I was due to have was damaged on unloading, it has taken me some time for me to chase up the documents for this vehicle from the dealer.

But I don't care! It's a fantastic car. Great around town, superb handling, very quick, and absolutely stunning to look at even without mod's. AND only group 7 insurance!!

2000 Citroen Saxo VTR 1.6 8v petrol

Summary:

Little beaut!

Faults:

Interesting to read that everyone else seems to have rattles, I put it down to a different stereo, I may get that checked out on the centre console.

Apart from the rattling, nothing to report.

General Comments:

Great fun to drive, not much comes close on the 0-40 traffic lights pull away, probably due to the lack of weight on the car.

Feels solid and reassuring in the corners/wet/both!

Don't try to get 4 men in the car, minimal backseat room!

I think you will find there is no way a 1.4 will reach 0-60 in 10 seconds. Try 11.9. Its only got 75 hp remember. A 1.6 Corsa GSI has a 9 seconds 0-60 time, so he probably wasnt trying very hard.

Also a VTR is lucky to hit 60 in 10 also.

Me again, I've just checked up, and yes it's true, Daihatsu Charade GTi, 993cc engine, 99 horses, top whack of 116mph, and 0-60 in 7.9 seconds, 3 cylinders, 12 valves, and group 11 in insurance. Shockeroonie eh?
