2000 Citroen Saxo VTR 1.6i petrol

Summary:

A ton of problems!!!

Faults:

I have had the car only 6 months and have had nothing but trouble:

The sun visor mirror cracked and was then superglued by the dealer.

Dashboard rattling.

The front seats are dangerous as they don't lock properly and slide back.

The engine keeps stalling, in wet weather the car misfires and has no power.

It needed new coil packs after 2 months (took 3 months to get them).

4 months of engine trouble and it's still not fixed!!!!

Local repair centre broke part of my stereo and refused to fix it.

They are also unhelpful and very, very rude.

General Comments:

The car is an excellent runner but mine has a number of faults which the dealer hasn't managed to fix in 4 months. Unfortunately I was sold a shagged VTR and haven't had the chance to experience the full benefit of the car.

I have had my Saxo VTR for 3 months (I have done 6,000 miles) and have not come across any problems apart from the brakes. They stick when the hand brake has been on for a while.

I'm very pleased with the car and have not yet come across a better ride for a small car.

2000 Citroen Saxo Furio 1.4i

Summary:

Excellent value for money, especially with a years free insurance!

Faults:

Nothing yet!

General Comments:

This car is amazingly quick for a 1.4i engine. It can reach 60mph in about 10 seconds. It kept up with my mate's Corsa GSi 1.6i 16v. However, you need a VTS to keep up with the Pug 205 GTi's and the like.

Good handling and suspension with loads of safety features make this well worth it! I am now used to the power, so I will probably go for a VTS next time.

I have just bought a new Saxo Furio and they told me that the Saxo VTR/VTS wheels wouldn't fit it.

Is this true do you think (the tyres were 185's).

Thanks.

Citroen are full of crap, I bought a brand new Furio last year and the salesman was practically begging me to have the VTR alloys, saying unless you own a Saxo, no-one could tell the difference. I managed to get them at a discounted price as I wasn't having steel wheels or wheel trims. Quality. What do you think of the car?

I've had my Furio for about a month, and it's a great car, it's got the looks, it's quick and only group 5 insurance. And when you're 17 that just makes it all the more better. If you're thinking about buying one... DO IT! Nothing better for the money!

Loving mine guys. £2500 insurance has totally broke me now tho. No alloys for me for a while : (, but loving thr car so far ;)

2000 Citroen Saxo Furio 1.4i

Summary:

What more do you want from a 1.4 engine car?

Faults:

Yesterday the airbag light kept on flashing when I was driving, but it only happened for about 10 minutes. Good job I got a warranty cause they can sort it out if it happens again.

General Comments:

Very surprised by the performance, it DOES do 0-60 in about 10 secs, less than 11 anyway. My mate's got a Golf GTi 1.8i and it keeps with that 0-60.

The body kit is the same as the VTS so all you need to do is add a set of alloys and you've got yourself a beauty, looks the part.

The ride isn't amazingly smooth, but it is a small car. Buy one... NOW!

Flashing airbag light means the wire under the seat is broken and loose.

This car is indeed not bad for a 1.4. On the motorway I've got up to 120mph (which is the speedo limit), that's with no modifications to the engine and my missus sat next to me going ape.
