2000 Citroen Saxo Furio 1.4i petrol

Summary:

Only buy if your 17-19 and less than 6'

Faults:

Coil pack went after 60,000 miles.

General Comments:

I've just sold my Saxo Furio after 6 years and 112,000 miles.

I love this car, for a 1.4 its nippy and pokey around town, but perhaps "feels" quicker than it is due to its size.

Handles very well with minimal body roll, however it was terrible in the wet, even with expensive low profile tyres on 15" alloys.

With a decent set of wheels it looks fantastic, the same as a vtr/s. The only difference to the keen observer is drums on the rear not pads and discs.

Cheap to run, cheap to buy, cheap to insure, very reliable.

I just wished 6 years ago I bought the VTS.

Overall a great 1st car, very basic inside, but this is reflected in the original price.

Not good for tall people or anyone over 20.

2000 Citroen Saxo VTS 1.6 16v

Faults:

When I have my headlights on, my dash lights flicker like a strobe light and my fuel, temperature, speedo, and rev counter behave erratically by going to zero or even freezing at the current speed I'm doing, so my speedo will often say I'm doing 70mph when I stop!

On top of that, my airbag light will come on for no apparent reason while driving.

General Comments:

I have not had anymore problems with my Saxo VTS yet, but it's early days as I've only had it for 2 days.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their Saxo and what the remedy was?

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Hi, I am Lee and I have had a Saxo Westcoast 1.4, a VTR and a VTS since I started driving at 17.

I am now 21 and have come to my senses. They are lovely cars to look at and very fast. I rate them for looks and nothing else.

I have had the same problem with all of them - the 1.4 to VTS. It's a fault in all Saxos, same as the water dripping from the sunroof.

If I was you mate, I'd sell the thing before it's too late. Trust me on that, I would sell it. I would never ever buy a Saxo if Citroen was the only company on earth that sold cars. Now I love cars, but I would rather walk if that's the case.

So many problems with my Saxos - air bag light came on, then your power steering will go on and off until either it goes off and the fuel pump will seize up, or you need another barrel ignition. If you don't the heater and the lights might go?

That's the first problem I had with my Saxo, then an injector went so I thought it was. I couldn't find anything wrong with it, but there was because it would cut out by itself. I tried sensor flywheels, but was is the fuel pump?

Saxo, my word for it is crap, as they go through gear boxes, clutches and bulbs.

If you have a Saxo you will have no money. Get shot, you will thank me.

If you keep it, you will wish you listened to me 110% somewhere down the line.

2000 Citroen Saxo VTS 1.6 litre 16v

Summary:

Fun when it worked

Faults:

Engine stopped without warning after two weeks ownership. Dealer had to collect the car from outside my workplace, on a low loader.

Dealer blamed the high spec 16 valve engine for being so tweaky.

Front fog lamp glass broke. Citroen only sell the entire lamp and glass arrangement at an astronomical price.

Car fired on 2 and 3 cylinders (Out of 4) regularly.

Constantly in Citroen dealerships along my journeys getting engine management chips replaced.

General Comments:

When it worked, it was a hyper fast, fun, cheap to run car.

Ride comfort was harsh.

Tyre wear on the Michelins was rapid... soft compound.

Seating arrangement was uncomfortable.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No
