1994 Honda Civic lsi 1.5 petrol

Summary:

A masterpiece

Faults:

I broke a windscreen wiper stalk myself because I hit it by accident, the electric window motors are wearing out, and I replaced the door and rear shelf speakers, but after all the car is 11 years old.

General Comments:

I've always wanted a Honda civic! mainly because the cars really cool to have in ireland. I was worried that the 1.5 litre engine would be too big as I'm 18 and this is my first car, but the cost was actually quite reasonable it was only a small bit more than a 1.2 fiat punto. it is fairly quick with one or two people in the car, but anything more than that it slows down. I had it fully loaded with 5 people including myself and the boot had 2 big guitar amps and it became extremely slow. other than that I love the car. the handling is top notch and the cabin is nice to look at as there are quality materials used here much better than some newer cars! th boot is plentiful and it has fold down rear seats which is useful. economy is OK. not brilliant, but the performance is excellent. I have it a month and it serves me fine. it has always started and I use it everyday going to college and work. only major problems is the lack of central locking and the electric window motors are failing, but other than that I would recommend this car to anyone and I would definitely buy another Honda.

1994 Honda Civic esi 1.6 vtec

Summary:

Absolute gem and flying machine

Faults:

Nothing at all.

General Comments:

Very nice car to drive and has infinite acceleration thanks to the vtec.

Tailgates usually first to rust, but on the saloon which I have its OK.

Its just such a nice car across the board.

Only thing that puts people off is the insurance is ridiculous. but worth it for the performance which is amazing.

1994 Honda Civic DX 1.3 (1.3) 16v

Summary:

A pocket rocket

Faults:

Brake lights failed 83,000 miles.

Replacement of back box exhaust 83,000 miles.

General Comments:

The Honda civic DX is a superb car for its class.

The 1.3 16v 75bhp engine is far from sluggish.

0-60mph in under 11 seconds.

Can reach over 110 mph.

The handling is superb, its very light and responsive, it's a car that you drive not a car that drives you.

Inside the interior of the car is nice, with very comfortable front seats, though it may be small it has far more room in the back than the 106 did.

However the boot space is very tight and small, this car isn't really ideal for family's with kids, but I'm 18 so this didn't bother me.

Insurance for this car is ideal to (group 4) so it's a car most people can afford. Its fairly fuel efficiency.

Expensive parts, but rarely need replacing due to Honda's high reliability.

For a 1.3 engine it's a rocket. will take nearly any 1.6i car acceleration wise leaves cars in the dust.

1994 Honda Civic LSi 1.5

Summary:

A credit to Honda this car is a legend

Faults:

Nothing has ever gone wrong with this car or my previous Civic.

General Comments:

What can I say about this car other than fantastic. The best looking hatchback of it's generation with legendary reliability. This is the second Civic in this shape I have owned and only got rid of my last one because this one was such a bargain (also with special edition air conditioning). I've lowered mine by 40mm and put 16" alloys on it, but that's all it needs and it looks fantastic in silver. The handling is superb and the engine loves being taken past 4000RPM and higher, don't worry about thrashing it because as I've said this is my second Civic and they've never ever let me down in any way. The one and only regret I have is not trying to get hold of an ESI or VTI (both with the 1.6 VTEC powerplant) as I'd have liked to experience this fine car with a little more power. Though being honest the 1.5 is quick enough, but it's always good to go faster.

Problems if I'm being picky are front tyres wearing quite quickly though they do bed into a lovely groove which helps the car corner like a go-cart. Some people complain about the front seats being uncomfortable though I never found this, they are a bucket seat style that some people might not like. A few rattles, but nothing major that I've fixed with a little fettling and it's now as quiet as a church inside the cabin. The insurance group in the UK is too high for the performance so it's probably worth checking this out before you buy.

I'm now looking to buy an Alfa Romeo 147GTA, I hope this decision to leave the Honda brand and go for a notoriously unreliable brand doesn't come back to haunt me. I cannot recommend this car enough, have fun.
