1994 Honda Civic LSi 1.5

Summary:

The best car of its type by a country mile, bar possibly the VTi

Faults:

When accelerating out of a gravel car park, a stone chip went through the air dam and cracked into the radiator. Other than that, I have had no major faults.

General Comments:

This is one fantastic car. Having not been treated with the highest of care, this car has carried on regardless. It was left unused for one year and started first time in winter when brought out from under the cover - and with very little petrol.

Not the fastest car around, but definitely punchy for what it is. V-TEC kicks in at 4500 revs although Honda say this model doesnt have it, but there is a definite punch. The manual gearshift is pleasant and forgiving.

That "Kick" that you feel at 4500rpm is the second Butterfly throttle opening up allowing more air into your engine.

Summary:

Lovely car

Faults:

No problems at the moment at all.

General Comments:

This is a high performance vehicle for the size of the car. it has a twin turbo fitted to it and is capable of racing any nissan pulsar GTiR on the road. it hits 0-60 in 4.9secs and handles like a dream.

Fully loaded from inside and comes with white leather interior and £10,000 sound system including DVD videos, TV's and also games.

I think that the the new shape civic is disgusting, I think it looks like a toad.

1994 Honda Civic vti 1.6 vtec

Summary:

Engine tone to die for!!

Faults:

Nothing so far !!

General Comments:

Fantastic car to drive, with superb performance, though you have to get used to driving Honda's! the 'foot 2 Throttle' response is bad, so you have to nail every gear in the red-line!!...which sounds lovely.

Interior is a little dull, but makes up for it in comfort.

Panels are thin and fragile so watch out for stray shopping trolleys etc...

1994 Honda Civic LSi 1.5

Summary:

An extremely reliable good looking car

Faults:

Radiator replaced at 78,000

Lambda sensor in exhaust back box.

General Comments:

The car is very quick from standing start.

The seating position cannot be adjusted and very low making it quite difficult getting out of the car.

Two door version means longer doors making it difficult to get out of in tight car parking spaces.

Silly split tailgate.

1994 Honda Civic VTI 1.6 Vtec

Summary:

The car I never want to sell

Faults:

My clutch went at 78,000 miles (£270 +vat part only)

The Radiator was shot to bits when I first picked it up (£200 inc vat part only)

The rear suspension bushes needed replacing when I picked the car up, (£15 each, tricky to do)

Also, about one set of brake pads per year - depending on your style of driving. Front tire wear is pretty high too.

General Comments:

I've spent lots of money on my Civic, now I think (touch wood) that it is in perfect working order :) Honda parts are expensive, but top quality and very reliable.

It's a small car, but I'm 6ft4, 20stone and don't have the problem with head/leg room that I have with other cars.

The car is the best thing I have ever driven, it's not one for people who like torque, but it's so fun to drive, power band is narrow, but all hell breaks loose under the bonnet at 4600 revs, not so fast off the line, but an unbeatable overtaking machine.

When you put your foot down I think you get about seven miles per gallon, driven with care *maybe* 30.

I would recommend this car, I love it. They are hard to find 2nd hand and tend to be over priced. Whatever you do- find one with a full service history, they don't like to miss oil changes! If looked after some seem to go on forever, I've seen one that has been abused all it's life and is on 165 000 miles.

1994 Honda Civic 1.5i Coupe 1.5

Summary:

Great fun, an undiscovered Gem

Faults:

Remarkably little. Needed a new Exhaust and Front Discs at 80K, and new Front Tyres every 20k.

A CV joint was replaced at 115k because the cover had split in the middle of Winter and by the time I noticed it was too far gone.

The radiator was replaced after (apparently) a piece of road debris went through the slots of the air intake and split the core causing total coolant loss. I only noticed when the heater went cold and I saw the temperature gauge off the top of the scale. Amazingly after replacing the Radiator (£65) and coolant the car ran as well as ever without any Head-Gasket leakage.

General Comments:

Without a doubt the best car I've owned.

Used for Transpenine commuting I was covering 900 miles a week for 2years. The 102 BHP engine really has just enough performance when driven one-up, but returned 44 mpg. Handling was a joy although there was quite a lot of Road Noise. I needed a larger car and replaced it with a Civic 5 door, which has much lower geared steering and is no fun through corners.
