2005 Peugeot 407 SE 2.0 petrol
Summary:
Super smooth
Faults:
Noise from rear suspension.
ABS sensor.
Replaced brake disc and pads at last MOT.
Oil leak. Not serious - Rarely need to top up, but I don't know where it's coming from. Given it has been doing it for the five years I have had the car with no effect on how it drives, it's not worth investigation at this age and miles.
General Comments:
A cheap used car I bought at the start of all the covid nonsense, it has been good as a second car.
Tax is a joke at well over £300 per year; for an older petrol car this is just silly. It also barely does 33 mpg. The reason I keep it around is I do not do much mileage in it, it is cheap to insure and repair, and it is more reliable than the more common HDi diesel units. This petrol 2.0 is super smooth and quiet. Power is good also.
Nice to drive, interior comfort is top notch. For a 2005 car, it feels as good as new.
It has been looked after well and I will keep it until it dies. Then probably upgrade to a 508. The 407 was never a spectacular car from Peugeot, but it is smart looking, and buy a nice one and it makes a fantastic interesting second car to cruise about in comfort and reliability with plenty of space.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know
