2011 Skoda Superb TSi SE 1.8 petrol

Summary:

Near perfect vehicle

Faults:

Brakes, springs, exhaust, and an ABS sensor needed replaced. Wear and tear basically.

Air con weak.

Bonnet catch broke.

General Comments:

A stunningly large car form Skoda, the Superb does everything I need and more. My car is silver, very common color.

SE model is mid range, but the car still has plenty of electronic equipment, feels like a luxury car. Interior space is huge. Rear passengers have the most legroom I have ever seen in a car.

Driving position is good and the car is good to drive. 1.8 TSi petrol is pretty rare seeing as most of these cars are diesel. It has good performance and still does 35 - 40 mpg which I can live with.

I have had it six years and just cannot find anything negative to say about it, and I cannot remember a car that has ever left that impression on me! Highly recommended, they are cheap to buy used.

My points and summary exactly. This car is as good as a used car buy gets! Good to know with the reviews on here the petrol versions are good as well.

2011 Skoda Superb SE 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

Budget luxury

Faults:

Usual wear + tear, also replaced cambelt.

Cosmetically the outside is unmarked, interior is not holding up as well as hoped, rear armrest broke.

No major problems, DPF light came on but a long drive cleared it out.

General Comments:

Basically a bigger Skoda Octavia. The Superb is aimed at the executive market, but falls short of taking on well established names like BMW and Mercedes. Shame really, Skoda really tried with this car and it shows; the interior is very nice with all the electrics you would expect on a car of this type. Much more refined than my previous Octavia. Rear legroom is incredible, limousine like! SE model is mid range with half leather, and is very comfortable.

Rear hatch/boot is a bit of a gimmick.

2.0 TDi is best all rounder, decent performance while doing well over 50 MPG on average. Running costs are more or less identical to the smaller Octavia, and you can get these cars used at a great price, highly recommended.

I had very similar things to say about mine, these are great cars. So cheap to run and economical it makes you wonder - do we need electric cars or hybrids when even 10 year old diesels can be cheap to run and still good to drive and own?

Faults:

Nothing yet, it's my mother's car, she's only just bought it.

General Comments:

It's comfortable, efficient (45 MPG) and looks OK; the estate looks better though. Haven't had any snow to test the 4x4 system yet, but that may change!

The limiting factor in snow is not the 4wd system (which works very well) but the tyres. I found the factory-fitted low profile summer tyres are poor in snow. Changing to an all season tyre made a big difference in snow and on icy roads. Winter tyres would make an even bigger difference.

Thanks, there hasn't been any snow to test it on yet! It's just been serviced by VW, as I heard only bad things about Skoda dealers. They changed the cambelt, tensioner, rollers and water pump and changed the Haldex oil and engine oil/filter. Seem to be reasonable with their pricing too.
