2005 Vauxhall Corsa SRi 1.4i

Summary:

A real Gem to own

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car in the 6 months I have had it.

General Comments:

I am exceptionally impressed with the Corsa. My previous car was a Peugeot 206 XSi with the 1.6 litre engine. The corsa has only a 1.4, but feels just as sprightly. Nothing has gone wrong and I don't expect it to.

Very comfortable on long distant drives, and handles the motorways at higher speeds without hesitation.

Lovely designed cabin, especially the silver effect alloy centre console.

I opted for the Climate package, which incorporates, Climate control A/C, Rain sensor and a Auto dipping rear view mirror, this just adds to the pleasure in owning this car.

I'm totally happy with the car itself and the dealer, who have always been courteous and friendly.

I would not hesitate to have another Vauxhall, whether it be another Corsa, or maybe something else. A very happy Customer!

2005 Vauxhall Corsa Exclusiv 1.4 Twinport

Summary:

A fantastic spec at a brilliant price

Faults:

It's only done ten miles at the moment - nothing has gone wrong so far.

General Comments:

This is my second Corsa, had a Club two years ago and now I've got this Exclusiv - Vauxhall only made 500 of these special editions. It has a good spec - leather seats, climate control, alarm, 16" alloys and full body kit - really nice!!

2005 Vauxhall Corsa breeze Easytronic 1.2

Summary:

Exceptionally jerky

Faults:

The Easytronic gearbox could not be used in automatic because it was so jerky and uncomfortable.

Dealer advised us to drive it in manual mode this was better but we had bought it because it was an automatic

General Comments:

Car generally OK just the problem with the Easytronic gearbox.

Low residual value, 50% (£4000) lost in 3 months, no one wants a secondhand one.

Never buy one without taking an extended test drive

So why didn't you?

Good point! A test drive was offered, but there was never one available. I also assumed that because the product had been on the road for many years it must be reasonably reliable. We had had two conventional automatic Corsas before with no problems. We intended to buy another conventional auto, but the salesman showed us all the savings we would make by having an Easytronic. We have learned the hard way. The good outcome was that we discovered the Honda Jazz as a result with a CVT gear box and for a similar price there is no comparison. Build quality, design, performance are all streets ahead of the Corsa.
