2008 Vauxhall Corsa Breeze 1.3 CDTi turbo diesel

Summary:

The trusty friend

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Great little car based in the UK, but used for a 70 mile daily commute, as well as numerous pan European trips when fully laden.

50k miles, and all that has gone wrong is a headlight bulb, very impressive in any car.

Lots of torque for such a small motor however very gutless with lots of turbo lag when cold, or at low revs. It's a supermini, but feels at home on motorways.

Excellent on fuel, 55mpg, but this model is a bit stingy on kit; does have air con though.

Great build quality, nothing has fallen off, the car still looks almost new, inside and out.

20k service intervals and cheap servicing are great, this is often overlooked when working out the running costs of a car.

Only downside is that it could be considered a little dull, and also it's very common now.

All in all, a cracking little car.

2008 Vauxhall Corsa CDTI Eco 1.3 turbo diesel

Summary:

Love it

Faults:

Drivers seat height adjustment kept lowering, had to replace.

General Comments:

This car performs very well, driving position is comfortable and the power steering is a marked improvement compared to my previous car, the Ford Fiesta.

There is plenty of room for back seat passengers.

It comes with front and side airbags.

It has an on-board computer.

I am getting at present 55 miles to the gal.

Only £35 tax, so cheap to run.

Just a couple of gripes:- You can hardly fit anything into the glove box as it's very small, the rear the car is fitted with two fog lamps, but only the offside one works. Vauxhall even puts a bulb in the nearside one knowing full well it's not wired up to work. I contacted Vauxhall. They told me that this is done for when they supply the european market, but to see a bulb in the nearside fog lamp and for it not to work does not make sense to me.

2008 Vauxhall Corsa Club 1.3 CDTi EcoFLEX turbo diesel

Summary:

Excellent small car, not eco though

Faults:

Heater motor failed, but was replaced under warranty by Vauxhall.

That's all that's gone wrong.

General Comments:

Excellent little car, the 1.3 diesel engine has so much torque it is unbelievable. It has the performance of a car with a much bigger engine than itself.

This car is so playful and handles amazingly. A close friend has a 2000 Astra SXi and the Corsa has a very close performance spec to the Astra.

Down side is the so called "ECO" side to the car, the engine was designed to be as economical as possible, however the emissions on the car are higher than that on our other car, a Volvo V70 diesel. So much for ECO.

2008 Vauxhall Corsa VXR 1.6 turbo petrol

Summary:

Absolutely brilliant. Buy one of these 100%

Faults:

I can honestly say I have had this car for a couple of weeks now and not had a problem with it.

General Comments:

After recently having a Citroen C2 VTS for 5 years, which gave me nothing but trouble, I decided I needed a change so I went out and purchased a Vauxhall Corsa VXR.

After driving many cars, I have to say that this car is not for the young driver as it is seriously quick, it is a tool and not a toy. You have to think where and when you're going to put your foot down as the torque is amazing.

Get it in 3rd gear at 1,500 RPM, put your foot to the floor and in comes the overboost, and it just smacks you in your seat with so much torque. With 0 - 60 in just over 6 seconds, you ain't going to get much better than this unless you spend big money.

My mate has a Civic Type R, and on the tamp it sticks to that's like something else although it does not tripod like the Type R does with handling, the handling is still not an issue.

The rasp from the turbo is just something else; it sucks, bangs and pops upon gear change.

The cabin is absolutely brilliant with leather Recaro bucket seats in the front, which hold you like a vice, and the back seats are also leather as well. You also have chrome finishes everywhere, VXR logos through out the car, square steering wheel, which also has VXR logo with chrome plate on the bottom of it.

As for leg room in the back, I'm 5ft 11, and my brother is over 6 ft tall, and he has no problem sitting behind me when I'm driving. The boot is also OK for a decent amount of shopping if you take the shelf, which sits half way through the boot, out - it makes the boot a lot deeper, and it can handle a good £100 shop from the local supermarket.

Overall, when you buy a car you need to feel connected with it, and this is exactly what Vauxhall has done. It makes you smile every time you get in it.

One bit of advice; go out and test drive one, you won't be disappointed.

One of these past me today as I was walking to my car. White with a black roof and wheels. Very very nice. Also had upgraded exhaust and dump valve. Got to be one of the nicest sounds I've ever heard. Jumped in to my Civic Type R hoping for a play about, but he was gone by the time I got going!!!
