1996 Acura Integra LS 1.8 from North America

Summary:

Reliable Fun car to drive

Faults:

No real major mechanic problems. Had to replace front & rear brakes twice, seems that's a problem with a lot of Integra's. So thank God for Midas lifetime warranty on brakes. Other than brakes had a very minor repair on exhaust ($35).

Passenger side power window is iffy, very slow, will probably die soon.

Another small, but annoying problem is the arm rest between the driver & passenger has some weird fabric that in the summer time gets very sticky.

Biggest problem is clear coat is pealing off in some areas. Especially the nose, got so bad that instead of a expensive paint job I just put a LeBra on it.

General Comments:

Great car. I do the basic regular scheduled maintenance and that's it. Car has never broke down or even made weird noises.

1996 Acura Integra Special Editioin 1.8 Liter non-VTEK from North America

Summary:

Nice looking and pretty fast car!!!

Faults:

Seats had some wear, but it was normal for this mileage.

Very loud when closing doors with windows opened.

Blown speakers, not clear sound.

General Comments:

This car is very fast for its 1.8 Liter Engine.

I raced once twice with 97 Toyota Camery XLE V6 (Auto) and guess what I won. Camry lost, but at the higher(80-110 mph) speed the Camry took the addvantage of its V6 engine.

Very easy to wreck because it's very light and it is hard to stop it, unless you have ABS brakes.

Very comfortable seats and easy clutch.

Silly!

The lighter the car, the easier it is to stop it. What do you thing would be easier to stop, a locomotive or a bicycle?

1996 Acura Integra RS 1.8 liter from North America

Summary:

I got what I paid for :)

Faults:

There haven't been any major mechanical repairs needed on the car. The only repairs needed for my car were from the wear and tear on the leather seats.

General Comments:

The only thing I hate about the car is where they placed the oil filter. I really don't think that would matter if you don't change your own oil though.

1996 Acura Integra RS 1.8 DOHC from North America

Summary:

Has it's problems, but for the price it's a joy to drive

Faults:

The drivers door lock jammed, easy fix cost me about $40.

Power antenna went at about 12000km.

Engine blew at 140000km.

Clutch blew at 150,000km.

General Comments:

It's a fun sporty can and a fun to drive. I have raced it against mustangs, cameros, lancers, civics... pretty much any challenger and it's alway held it's own.

It handles aw some and is a joy to drive.

Just a thought, maybe the reason those things happened to the car I because you raced it. I've had mine for 222,883 miles and nothing accept a non-working antenna.

1996 Acura Integra LS special edition 1.8 DOHC from North America

Summary:

A performance drivers dream

Faults:

So far I have not had a single problem with my Integra. I have had to change both the rear and front brakes, which I did myself, so the cost was minimal.

The Cavalier Z24 I owned form new to 120,000 miles and had only one major problem, the water pump leaked. So aside from that I thought I was happy with the Chevy.

General Comments:

After the first day of driving in the Acura I realized how miserable I really was with the Cavalier.

Other than the acceleration the Acura out performs the Chevy in every way. Handleing is far superior, and it certainly out brakes.

I feel the front seats are very comfortable, but I get complaints form the back seat all the time.

I look forward to adding performance items to this car. There are a lot of them available.

1996 Acura Integra LS 1.8 from North America

Summary:

Great first love

Faults:

Considering that I bought a 4 year old used car as my first car I am hoping that the things that have gone wrong are typical for the age and mileage of this vehicle.

At 80,000 miles: the radiator cracked; the passenger side power-window started to show signs of trouble by not always going down (except for an inch) ; and the hatch-back door does not go up very easily at all.

At 90,000 miles: The passenger side power-window pretty much stopped working; and the power antennae will not go down even after the car is turned off; rear brakes needed to be replaced.

At 110,000 miles: The driver side power-window is starting to show signs of trouble by sporadically not going down more than an inch; and the suspension system seems to be going; and rear brakes need to be replaced again; and exhaust system has a hole in it.

General Comments:

I ended up getting the Acura because of the car's reputation for durability, quality, and performance. In addition, the dealership where I get the car serviced is great with price and customer service.

I fell in love with the car because of its ability to accelerate quickly, it handles really well, and is fairly comfortable (although, 2 hours or longer in the seat and it starts to get a little uncomfortable).

For the amount of money I paid for the car and the amount I had to put into the car, I probably should have just started out with a new car.

All in all, I love this car and plan to keep her running for many more years to come.

You think that's bad? Buy an American built car.
