2007 Acura TL V6 from North America

Summary:

Great upscale Honda -- a quality durable appliance

Faults:

Light bulb.

Battery.

Leather cracks and discolors, even after repairs.

General Comments:

Too wide a turning radius

The car has a lumbering drive feel -- feels like it's heavy -- it's not fun or quick a drive. It won't be rushed. To do over again, I wouldn't buy it again because of the way it drives.

It's well made; only started to notice rattles this year.

Never have had any mechanical issues or failures with it.

It's a quality car.

General Comments:

This was my "entry level" dream car, and it is everything I wanted it to be! Maybe I can't afford an S4 right now, but I can get this beauty for $20000 used and be sure that it's going to look sexy, give me plenty of power, be fun to drive, keep me safe, and it will last and last with minimal headaches!

I bought one in November of 2012 in Edmonton and drove it back to Calgary. What an amazing highway ride! So smooth, awesome passing power, although... What is with the sound on the XM radio? The max volume is "40", which seems very quiet with the highway noise. CD's etc. are fine, but it is a little annoying.

I got this thing home, and got into a serious accident the NEXT DAY. I was blindsided at an intersection, and this thing kept me amazingly safe, with not even a stiff neck to show for it. Even better, the insurance company gave me $21000, more than I paid for it! Keeps its value.

4 months later, I found another Type S 6 speed... in Edmonton again. Another beautiful highway drive home, and she is still driving like the day I bought her.

The interior feels rich, and the navi screen is huge! It will impress some dates and friends, for sure. The back-up camera is bright and clear, although it gets dirty very easy. I like to give it a wipe before I get it in. The seats have a thousand options to customize. I had to play around a bit to find the right fit, but it shouldn't be too hard for you. There is tons of headroom, two big cup holders, great heated seats, and the heated mirrors are a nice touch for Calgary's winter weather.

It should be noted that this is not a cheap car to maintain. It takes premium gas, is loaded with premium parts, and I only trust the dealership to work on her for now. However, the only things that have gone wrong are standard replacements at this age, and the timing belt was only $650.

As noted above, it's a little tricky to shift smoothly into first, which I found in many of the TL's I test drove. This, added to the meek low end torque, does not make it a great vehicle if you plan on racing anyone. However, if you are looking for a reliable, safe, SMOOTH, QUIET, comfortable ride, with awesome passing power for the commute or the highway, this is the car for you.

...Just don't expect to be stowing your skis in the back seat - the rear seat doesn't fold down :P.

2007 Acura TL Type S 3.5L from North America

Summary:

I LOVE this car!!!

Faults:

Occasional rattles.

Occasional speaker buzz with bass.

General Comments:

Even though I hear a few rattles (like a loose screw or something), I absolutely LOVE this car! It was my dream car, and I've finally gotten one with absolutely NO regrets! I've learned to not expect perfection, so I can overlook minor things.

Incredibly fast and quiet.

I do wish the sound system was a little better, but that may be due to my inability to tune it correctly. The JBL in my 4Runner sounds better.
