1988 BMW 3 Series 325i Touring 2.5 12 valve from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Slight oil leak from oil filter head when cold, not fully diagnosed exactly what problem is yet.

General Comments:

Fantastic car - a bit different. Proper wolf in sheep's clothing.

Great performance (estate remember), fuel economy better than expected (24/25 mpg av), very reliable, cheap to run.

If people tell you BMW's are expensive to run, they're WRONG!

Have had BMW's before, think I will again...

Oil leak is from the pressure relief valve "o" ring on the plunger the kit from BMW agents costs under £5 and all you need is circlip pliers to change it.

1988 BMW 3 Series 325i 2.5 from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Actually gone wrong whilst I've owned it - nothing. It even passed it's MOT 1st time.

General Comments:

Stunning performance & strong engine for the age. Spec relatively high - and even all the electrics still work.

Handling is supreme, except in the wet.

I can even pull away from a WRX Impreza in the dry now it's performance has been enhanced!

I've been wanting one since last year 04, just still have my golf mk2 which is going well. my work mate had a bmw325i and I feel in love with the shape e30 model, especially when you sit in it, it's amazing and the sound of the engine when I drove it around the block is superb. I can't wait to get my hands on one, who needs a new car when you can have this beast!!! long live BMW

I just bought an '88 325i last week. It does need a few things, but it's fun to drive even with bad shock absorbers. I can't wait to get those replaced and REALLY drive it. That engine at low speeds sounds like an airplane. New cars are fine, but I love the organic feeling of this car and being able to hear and feel everything I do with the car.

Faults:

Thermostat controller, tappets.

General Comments:

For an old car it went like a rocket, 140 mph, nice inside and looked nice but when 1 thing goes it all goes and costs a fortune.
