2005 Buick Rendezvous 3.6 from North America

Summary:

I like the car, but I've spent a lot of money fixing it

Faults:

My transmission had to be replaced two and a half years into owning the Rendezvous.

Also, the right wheel bearing at about 85,000 miles.

I am now having brake issues. I have an appointment Friday. My rear brakes needed pads and rotors, and I was also experiencing an issue with the ABS system, I believe. When I go to stop (not every time), it will slide a little, like I'm on ice. Except it's 70 degrees outside. I hope this isn't expensive..

2005 Buick Rendezvous CXL AWD 3.6 V6 from North America

Summary:

This vehicle has serious problems!

Faults:

Where do I begin? I bought this vehicle new in 2005...

- I bought this for the MPG of 25 HWY for a SUV, and I am lucky if I get 18.5 of pure HWY driving. Around town it is like 15 MPG.

- Both front wheel bearings have needed to be replaced to the tune of $350+ each. I have heard other owners of this vehicle have problems with wheel bearing too!

- Cracked flywheel in the transmission (which I found out has service bulletins, and is in many other GM vehicles - but not a covered repair after the warranty expired). This was about $800.

- Tailgate strap (to lower tailgate) has broken twice ($50 each time).

- Battery died after 3 years (but caused all sorts of electrical problems, because I would never have believed a "7 year battery" would be the problem.) Then, all sorts of stuff must be removed to replace the battery, requiring $80 installation, plus the cost of the battery.

- AWD is groaning and making terrible noises while turning in parking lots (apparently this is "common" as well).

- Uneven tire wear (especially in the front).

- Automatic leveling control doesn't work well any more. After 2 years it wouldn't support the weight of my boat plus luggage packed in the back anymore.

- There is "bubble rust" at the front edge of the hood already.

- The exhaust "flex pipe" broke up by the engine, banging on the AWD drive shaft (it would cost $1000 to fix, but a small auto repair shop "wired it up" so it wouldn't be a problem).

- Now the rear has a loud noise. Apparently the driver's side rear lower control arm needs replacing (~$400), and is a very common repair for this vehicle.

General Comments:

I love the upgraded power of the 3.6 V6. It was a very nice and quiet ride when I first bought it, but I have been VERY disappointed with the quality. I will NEVER buy a Buick again (and I'm seriously debating other GM vehicles as well)!

2005 Buick Rendezvous CXL 3.4 from North America

Summary:

Recall now!

Faults:

Costly brake job in the back.

Transmission has gone out on our vacation; will cost about 3000 dollars to repair.

A good friend is now on his third transmission, and another friend told me he traded his off at 70000, and a week later, the new owner had to put in another tranny. I wish there would be a recall on all of them for transmission problems.

General Comments:

We will never buy another Buick again until they make this right.

2005 Buick Rendezvous CX AWD 3.4 Gasoline from North America

Summary:

Lemon..

Faults:

Where do I start?

At 400 miles my AWD Disable light came on, and I have had to put up with this over the years; its cause is wheel bearings.

The liftgate keypad will not work, alarm sounds all through the night. Dealer is scared to see us pull in.

The seats faded, AWD moans, acceleration one day is great, then on the same road in the same conditions, we can't get it up to the speed limit. I am scared to drive it.

My back tail lights fill up with water, my lights burn out in a week, the heat is very poor, but we're very lucky most of this is covered under are warranty.

General Comments:

A/C is great, when the AWD works it has never left us stuck. In fact in a big blizzard our car got us home while other cars were stuck.
