This is a great car PERIOD!

Faults:

I have had no problems with this vehicle. It is a dream to drive and looks incredible too!

General Comments:

This is my third Cadillac and I was hesitant about buying a Catera because I have heard the horror stories about the cars, but this IS a great vehicle. It has all of the luxuries of a Cadillac in a little sporty body! I truly love this car and my next will be the STS-V!!!

I have to agree most of the bugs had been worked out of the 2000 or better models.. I have a 2000 cadillac sport with 90,000 miles on it have not had any major problems with the car.. running strong and looking good.. I'm still glad I bought the car..

2001 Cadillac Catera 3.0L V6 from North America

Summary:

One of the best cars I have ever owned

Faults:

I purchased my Catera last week and so far I have only had to have the fog light assemblies replaced and a front end alignment.

General Comments:

This is my first Cadillac and I must say I love it. I grew up with Mercedes and have always wanted one. When we saw this Catera, I thought it may be an OK car to trade my Toyota Celica for. I did a ton of research on this vehicle and must say I fell in love even more. We bought a 2001 and it has every option one could ever want. I love this car and if everything keeps going well, I will definitely buy a CTS next. I love my Catera!

2001 Cadillac Catera 3.0L DOHC V6 from North America

Summary:

Sporty Compact Car

Faults:

The passenger side climate control actuator does not want to work all the time.

Nothing else is mechanically wrong.

General Comments:

This car appealed to me greatly when it come time to buy another vehicle.

I read all the horror stories about the Catera being a complete lemon, but soon to my surprise I found that nearly every problem had been fixed by 2000, so I decided to purchase mine.

The interior is very roomy for a compact car and very plush.

This car is quick though slow of the line. Handling is firm and precise.

I wouldn't have considered buying a this same car if it was 1998 or older, but so far mine is doing great.

Thanks for the post.

You say that your research uncovered the fact that most of the nightmare problems mentioned by others had been fixed by 2000.

Could I ask you how you discovered this? I would like to get a better picture of the newer Cateras, and reading the kinds of results that you mention would greatly help me in my attitude toward this car.

2001 Cadillac Catera from North America

Summary:

Great road car and for zipping around town. Rides like a Cadillac!!

Faults:

Not a thing... but only have had it now for 3000 miles.

General Comments:

Very comfortable, quiet, vibration-free car. Acceleration and handling are so-so, but very acceptable.

Love that Bose stereo.

Wish I had a few more places to put personal stuff (purse, phone, glasses, etc). Guess I'm a bit spoiled in this matter because I had gobs of room in my last car... a Pontiac minivan.
