1986 Cadillac DeVille Sedan 4.2 liter from North America

Summary:

Comfortable, affordable, and reliable

Faults:

I recently had to change the water pump, and the drive belt. The headliner also came down.

General Comments:

I love the comfort the car has, because I can drive for days and not be uncomfortable. The car gets up on little sports cars, it handles very good.

1986 Cadillac DeVille Sedan HT4100 V8 from North America

Summary:

Style and luxury even at 16 years old

Faults:

When I purchased the vehicle the only thing wrong with it was the air conditioning wasn't working.

General Comments:

I love this car. It's very advanced for a 1986, with digital everything and a very comfortable ride.

Aside from the lack of power for the size of this car, I really can't say a bad thing about it. Nothing a Northstar V8 can't change!.

1986 Cadillac DeVille Fleetwood Upgrade 4.1L V8, HT 4100 from North America

Summary:

A nice luxury car for $3000

Faults:

At 85,000 miles the alternator died. A new one was $120.

At 90,000 I lost the clutch and coil of the A/C compressor. $250.

The radiator began leaking. I had it fixed, and it started again. So I had it replaced. $300.

At 100,000 miles the engine started cutting out, but then went away.

General Comments:

This car was a GREAT car. I heard many bad things about the 4.1L V8 engine, but it was really a good car. I only had minor problems with the car.

Very luxurious, especially for an 86 Cadillac.

Good power, and I could get 25-27 miles per gallon on the expressway.

I sold the car to my brother-in-law in 2000, and he totalled it 4 months later.

After the accident, the car was bought for $350. A guy in his 20's bought it, and fixed it. It is still on the road today. Still going strong at 120,000 miles.
