It's hard to complain about problems on a car that is 20 years old.
When I got the car the only thing that didn't work was the power antenna.
The 4.1 was an over engineered piece of aluminum.
Replaced the 4.1 with a warmed up fuel injected 350 and 700r4 transmission.
Replaced all of the front suspension bushings and joints.
Drives and runs like a new car.
No body rot anywhere.
I have had major problems with the 4100 motor in my 83 Coupe. I live in Missouri and have taken it to several places to try and switch out the motor, however no one will mess with it. People say it is to much of a problem to change the motor with trying to match the transmission and the computer. My car is in great condition except for the motor. I agree with you that this is a great car other than the 4100 and I don't want to get rid of it. I did at one time try to sell it, but there were no takers because of the heads being warped and the cracked cylinder. Can you or anyone else help me find someone I can take it to so I can switch out the motor? Thanks, Hotbody1@hotmail.com.
I too have a 1983 caddilac coupe deville and of course I to have had major problems with the engine... So I decided to replace with a 368 from a 1980 cadillac coupe deville I have the ehgine in, but having major problems with the computer everything good to go.. Unfortunately it won't start and I don't have a clue why other than the computer not working with the engine.
