1999 Cadillac Eldorado ETC Touring 4.6 Northstar 300 hp from North America

Summary:

The perfect car for anyone

Faults:

My car overheated on the way home from the car lot, so they towed it to the shop. They replaced the radiator cap, but next morning it over heated, so then they had to do a head job and head gaskets, battery and alternator.

Now it runs great, so if you're looking at buying a Cadillac with the Northstar motor, have a test ran on it to check the head gasket. The engine job was $3200.

General Comments:

I love my Eldorado. It's just the perfect car. It dusts most of the cars on the road.

It does about 18 miles to the gallon. It takes 91 octane gasoline.

I don't like how it costs so much to get it serviced.

I don't think the perfect car would require an engine overhaul costing roughly what the car is worth.

That is an opinion. Worth is determined by the beholder. The 90s Eldos are fabulous cars that always turn heads. I am on my third, and the most important thing is to maintain it and find a CADILLAC mechanic and treat him/her right.

General Comments:

Sporadic problems, mostly electrical or sensory issues!

Changed oil yesterday, and fueled up and started the car this morning, and the engine screeched and idled about 2500 rpm.

Very comfortable and smooth ride.

MUST BE WEALTHY TO KEEP UP WITH MAINTENANCE.

Did I mention sporadic problems?

DIC is just a gimmick, it works like a warning Light.

Dealerships and manufacturer figured out a plan to keep us coming back... Nice ride... nice price.

I don't mind the preventive maintenance costs though, but some of the stuff on my 99 ETC comes out of nowhere, I went through a puddle and got a Service Ride System message... WTF... headlights went out in traffic and it was in muggy tornado-ready weather!

OVERALL, The Northstar is a beaaaaaaaaaaast!!!

I've gotten too many compliments on this car. All I can say is take care of the heart of it...

My problems are mostly electrical & sensory.

I can't wait to trade it in and go for the 2010 Camaro...

If you look at the lines the Camaro, resembles the ElDo!

I had a 96 ElDo, traded it in before it went KerPlunk, now it's this one's turn to get canned.

Too bad the new Cadillacs look like BUUUYAYA compared to their Presidential Elders!!!
