Water pump blew, needed to install a rebuilt one, $80.
Starter went out, $315 for a new one.
Needed a new battery and alternator, around $200-250.
Not good gas mileage at all, maybe I need a new part, I get around 15 miles per gallon, sometimes 10 or 11.
Front sway bar has broken, I still need to fix that, it makes a clunking noise.
Very good looking car for the money. I love my car, it just has too many miles for a car made in America. I wish it only had 15,000.
I am pretty tall, I am glad I don't have to sit in the back seat. It is tiny. Very comfortable ride, kind of bumpy.
It is pretty light for it's engine, pretty quick too, it can keep up with a lot of cars. It could handle better.
I wish it was more reliable. But it has been a pretty good car, nothing over a couple hundred bucks to fix it, and I got a good deal on the car.
I agree with the speed thing. I can keep up with an iroc z-28 (automatic 5.0 t.p.i.) with my 94 z-24 (5-speed 3.1mpi). However not with the gas mileage thing. I get between 15 and 19mpg in the city, but about 35mpg interstate. Either way it's a nice car that's competitive. I beat a few newer z-24's.
My 1994 z-24 is awesome. Although it has 130,000 miles on it, It is is mint condition. I must admit that I am a car washing freak. I must wash my car about 2-3 times a week. Sometimes I wonder if I am going to wash the paint off! And about the speed!!! I have no problem keeping up with 8 cyl. cars. My brother has a Camaro RS 5.0 and my 3.1 MFI engine smokes him off the line. I have added a few things to it, not much, but enough to pep her up a little. Just an exhaust system from the cat-back and an intake is all it took for me. Gas mileage is horrible. That's the only thing I don't like about my car. I average around 15 mpg. I encourage anyone to get a z-24. They are fun, sporty cars!
I purchased my Z-24, 3.1 for $200 and I have put well over $1000 into it! It is a Great car, but too many things go wrong with it and too close together. I have had to replace the computer, all coils, and module. Now I believe that my head gasket is blown and my fan isn't working at all. Keep in mind I have only had this car for 1 year. My car has pretty good gas mileage and it is quick! It keeps up with many quick cars. I love my car, but hate the problems that come with it!
I have my car, few things has gone wrong with it but very nice car. I've raced a Ponatic GTP and won against it. Very fast car.
I hope that you are racing on a track and not on the streets.
It is my opinion that only total idiots with no regard for human life race on the streets.
I believe that they should lose their licenses for life if caught street racing.
