1990 Chevrolet Lumina Euro Sport 3.1 from North America

Summary:

I love my baby, but she has to be well maintained

Faults:

Well if your reading this review it's gonna be just like the others when it comes to things that went wrong.

1.) Main brake controller or something (got fixed before I had car so not sure what it was that broke) at around 160,000km, cost about 800 bucks.

2.) Put front engine mounts on car at advice of GM dealer, cost almost 300 bucks.

3.) Replaced head gasket with help of uncle, hasn't leaked or burned any oil at all.

4.) Replaced front brakes cost about $150 bucks.

5.) Replaced rear breaks calipers (lifetime warranty) 250 bucks I think.

6.) Put muffler on at 170,000km with lifetime warranty (good idea cause warranty has replaced it 4 times) 180 bucks.

7.) High Power Alternator at 190,000km. 180 bucks.

8.) Engine mount bolt mounts went cost 180 bucks waiting recall repayment. at 220,000km.

9.) Crank shaft sensor just about 500 bucks at GM dealer. had to removed block heater to get at it.

If someone knows were I can find out about recalls on that can you email me at gxryan@hotmail.com.

General Comments:

I love my Car great mileage with K&N filter. lotsa power on the highway, great winter car.

Regular upkeep is a must if it wasn't kept in good condition. Like mine wasn't so I have had to put a lot of work to it.

Air conditioning doesn't work so well, needs to be recharged and air compressor replaced.

Put 3000 dollar stereo in it, it sounds sweet car is totaly custom.

1990 Chevrolet Lumina Euro 3.1 from North America

Summary:

A great first car

Faults:

Small transmission fluid leak, fixed with stop leak.

Replaced alternator three times, but I overloaded them with an aftermarket stereo amplifier.

Replaced wheel bearings up front twice.

Replaced struts and shocks up front.

Replaced motor mounts.

Replaced oil and water pump.

Replaced faulty sensor in engine.

Replaced starter motor.

Turn signal wore out at 170,000 miles.

Rear calipers bad, been told it was an engineering problem, haven't bothered to replace them.

General Comments:

I have owned my Lumina Euro for 7 years now, the car itself is thirteen years old, and I have to say this has been a faithful little car.

Most of my maintenance has been routine wear and tear, for the most part this car has been very reliable.

Transmission still shifts well at 184,000 miles. Engine is still running strong, doesnt burn oil or clunk and clang.

I grew very fond of this little car, it looks sporty as a two door, decent power, the interior and exterior wear is normal for a car of this age. I would still be driving it if it wasnt for a wreck last year.

1990 Chevrolet Lumina Euro 3.1 liter gasoline from North America

Summary:

The best vehicle I ever owned

Faults:

The water pump had to be replaced.

The heater core had to be replaced.

General Comments:

I owned this car for seven years and those were the only two problems other than routine maintenance. I cannot believe the value I got out of this vehicle. The only complaint is that the vehicle was not designed as the safest vehicle compared to todays standards. But I was very happy to own this vehicle.

1990 Chevrolet Lumina 3.1 from North America

Summary:

Awesome deal for a car that delivers

Faults:

The car was purchased from a used car "dealer". I had a ton of problems with it. They replaced the entire fuel injection system, new muffler, new valves and some electrical connections in the cab.

I had trouble with the engine mounts, they broke. 2 of them snapped and were welded back in place. The wear did cause the power steering line to break.

After all of these repairs, the car is a dream.

General Comments:

Very well worn interior. I use it as a commuter to and from work. 70km a day. No problems with it. The mileage is still very good for the car and there isn't a snow storm this beast wouldn't make it through.

This is the best winter car I have ever driven.
