Driving a small car is a new experience. Many drivers don't show the same respect to a small car than a larger vehicle.
That's odd that your metro burns oil-- these have a reputation for no leaks. As for your suspension rattling, I had the same problem once. It turned out to be the rack and pinion, and the sound was caused by looseness in the tooth gear. It's fine after replacing it.
