1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS 3.1 V6 from North America

Summary:

A good American Chevy built car

Faults:

I want to note that this is a 10-11 year old used car. It will not be perfect.

The fixes are not in order:

1) 3 months after I bought the car, needed to replace "Upper and Lower Bypass Hoses, Thermostat, Intake Manifold Gasket" ($1,070.31)

2) Replaced the water pump at 113,372 ($313.61).

3) New tires ($315.14).

4) At 119,000 miles replaced "Pressure Regulator" ($60).

5) Alternator ($139.00) (plus Core - $25.00).

6) Rear window defrost does not work.

General Comments:

I really do like this car. It is very reliable and with a good battery, it starts every time. Of course, like I said earlier, this is a used car, it will have issues for being a 10 year old car.

For owning this car for only 1 year and 3 months, I will continue to drive this car until I am able to get my Ford Mustang I want, or I just might keep it with the Mustang.

Just keep the oil changes at a 3 month - 3,000 mile range, and you will have a car for years to come.

Overall, a good seating area. Very comfortable while driving, short or long distances. A good car.

1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34 from North America

Summary:

My Monte Carlo Z34 is a car I am proud to own and drive

Faults:

Fuel pump replaced at 300 000km.

Front end -ball joints at 250 000km.

Brakes repaired at 150 000 and 275 000.

Transmission repair at 310 000.

Exhaust repair at 350 000.

General Comments:

My Monte Carlo has simply been a supreme automobile.

Solid ride, comfortable bucket seats.

Handles beautifully. Have done complete wheel alignment twice.

Leather interior still looks almost new.

Has only left me stranded once in 400 000 km (fuel pump).

GM can produce exceptional vehicles, and my 1999 Z34 is an example. My 11 year old vehicle still looks classy compared to other vehicles on the road.

1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS 3.1L V6 from North America

Summary:

Comfortable, reliable everyday semi performance coupe

Faults:

Nothing wrong has happened yet, except I've experienced a misfire, and there's more jolt than usual shifting into drive from neutral than normal.

General Comments:

Handles nice for a semi performance coupe, though I'm disappointed with the styling, because it looks like the Lumina... overall better looking than Lumina with its alloy wheels, but still not all too attractive.

Very roomy and comfy on the inside with leather seats and moonroof, but an unattractive panel that's too... 'plasticky'

Performance sounds nice, but seems limited. It's quick enough up to 40-50, but won't dare go much faster in a hurry.

1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS 3.1L V6 from North America

Summary:

Best car I've ever had (wouldn't trade it for anything)

Faults:

I just purchased the car and not much has gone wrong with it.

The gas gauge doesn't work properly, only works when it wants.

Center console piece broke, not a biggie.

Front end vibrates when stopped or just idling, I think it is the fuel line, I'm not sure. Does anybody know?

General Comments:

The car is a fast car, it gets up and goes, with a little of nothing.

It has the sporty look, which is very attractive.

The interior and exterior are in good condition especially of the fact that it is 8 years old, and has 165000 miles.

This car seems to be one that runs a long time, they are built very good.

The car looks new and runs like new for the age and mileage.

I would reccommend this car to anybody who wants a car that gets up and goes, looks sporty, and one that will practically run forever.

You got to be careful in this car too, because it tends to go faster than you think, so you got to watch your speed.

(I'm the guy with the problem) I was wondering if I should put the dex cool antifreeze in my coolant? I was told not to ever put green antifreeze in my car, only dex cool. I read that dex cool antifreeze is not good for the car, on some ones compliment. Do you think I should use Dex Cool Antifreeze, as it says to underneath my hood? Thanks.
