1977 Chevrolet Nova 250 straight 6 from North America

Summary:

Perfect First Car

Faults:

Transmission went at 150,000.

Bumpers rusted out.

Small rust whole under driver side door.

Heater core needed replacing at about 165,000.

Electrical problems.

Normal maintenance.

General Comments:

Great looking 2dr hatchback.

The car never left me stranded despite loosing all the forward gears. I just drove the five miles home in reverse.

The engine was very strong for a six cylinder. The speedometer only went to 80, but I got the needle all the way to the R for reverse (estimate that to be about 120) and she was still gaining. Best passing car I have owned despite owning two cars with V8 power.

Positraction made it reliable in the winter. I was following a plow truck that went off the road and I just kept on going. Just had to get a little speed going to make it up the steeper hills. Studded tires all the way around also helped.

Got 21 mpg.

Big enough back end to sleep in, and I did just that on one occasion.

I wish I hadn't sold it, but didn't have the money to fix it up after two accidents kept the body from passing inspection.

1977 Chevrolet Nova Concours 305 V8 from North America

Summary:

Muscle Car On A Dime

Faults:

The inner fenders have rotted out, needs minor bodywork, heater controls were broken, and the interior has faded.

General Comments:

It's a former cop car from Alberta with bulletproof glass. I only paid $120.00 for it and its still currently under restoration. It is a pain to start in the winter.

I have a 1977 Black 2 door Chevy Concours with chrome parts and wheels with AM/FM CD player--it has 50,000 miles on it and no rust at all--always garage kept and it is a beauty--it runs great and when we are on the street or a show people just say "WOW". It does sort of use more gas than your more modern car--but it is beautiful!!

I don't see what the above comment has to do with the persons post...

This is an update on my review. unfortunately I am broke and haven't gotten anywhere with it, I found that the body mounts and control arm bushings are gone, and my quarters are rotten now. I need a rad support too and I have repaired the heater controls. if anyone happens to have inner fenders, rad support, quarter panels and anything else body-related for this car, and will ship to ontario, please contact me at NA337_reborn@hotmail.com thanks.

1977 Chevrolet Nova Concours 350 from North America

Summary:

The fastest car I've ever owned

Faults:

First day I had it one of the needle valves went out in the carburetor.

Six days after that the transmission went out.

The neutral start/backup light switch started to mess up, so I ripped it off the column. Now you have to reach down and press it against the contact while holding the key for it to start.

Every once in a while when you turn the headlights on, no interior lights work, but the right turn signal indicator comes on. After you drive about a mile they work fine until you turn them off.

Front end rebuilt recently.

Fuel line busted (but somehow managed to still run).

Air conditioner line busted. Fixed that with a piece of heater hose and two clamps!

Has two very minor places behind passenger rear wheel where fender has started to rust.

General Comments:

This car is extremely fast and very good looking. It has rally wheels and custom plum (purple) paint. 2 doors make it very noticeable. It's got pretty loud exhaust and stereo, and like I said it will haul some ass. I love driving it and it handles like a Z28 with the new front suspension and steering. Has new tires too. Car is almost perfect.
