Overall, this little truck has proved very reliable, but at the cost of quite a few repairs.
Right after I bought the truck used in 2001, the rear differential started leaking so I replaced the seal.
At around 42,000 miles, my water-pump failed so I replaced it.
At 45,500 miles, the blinkers mysteriously stopped functioning. They now function intermittently.
At 46,000 miles, I had a transmission shop check out the slack that I discovered in my drive line. The technicians said it was common in Chevrolet's and not to worry.
At 50,250 miles, the driver's side idler arm broke. I had this replaced at Goodyear.
At about 60,000 miles, I had to replace my wiper motor.
At 67,000 miles, I had to replace both seat recliner mechanisms because they locked up, and also replaced the stock stereo because it failed to play even a self-cleaning tape.
I have been extremely proactive with fluid changes and parts repairs. I bought the service manuals as soon as I noticed that this was a high maintenance vehicle.
This is a good truck for anyone who likes to spend some money to fix things once in a while.
It sure seems like you've had a lot of problems with your truck to still give it high reliability marks. Also, most of us would tend to equate "high maintenance" with "low quality". Perhaps the reason you feel it's reliable is because you previously owned a Ford Aerostar, I owned one for a few years and was fixing it almost weekly. If you want true reliability and build quality, I highly recommend the Japanese automakers.
