2001 Chevrolet TrailBlazer 4.3L V6 from North America

Summary:

This is the worst car anyone could get!!!

Faults:

Transmission blew.

Replaced fuel pump.

Thermostat went bad.

Radiator went bad.

General Comments:

This was my very first car I bought from the dealer. I was so happy with it "at first"! Two weeks after I bought it I had nothing but problems!!! I have fixed everything that I can think of and the problem still is not fixed!!! I have put more money into this car than I have paid on it, and the sad thing is I still owe money on it and I cannot get approved for another car loan so I can trade this one in... I will NEVER buy a Chevy again!!!

You're making the right choice. Chevrolet builds horrible vehicles.

I bought a new 2000 Chevy Trailblazer and I have 111,000 miles on it. I've only replaced the fuel pump; the vehicle is very reliable and I would not trade it for anything. Oh by the way, this is only my second Chevy, and I plan to buy more if it ever wears out.

2001 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS Inline 6 from Saudi Arabia

Summary:

Overall seems OK, but the acceleration sucks with the fan clutch problem

Faults:

I'm an American currently working abroad in Saudi Arabia. In December 2007, I bought a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer from a USA used car importer. The SUV was shipped from the USA, USA made and USA owned. The SUV had 94000 miles on it at the time of purchase and now it has 99000.

After I took the car off the lot, I had it inspected by a independent mechanic and things were fine. I had the transmission and engine oil changed and I didn't hear any sounds. By January '08 I too started hearing ticking sounds, then a loud engine noise, and then my check engine light came on.

I immediately thought I was sold a lemon and wanted to get my $12,000 USD back from the sales place. Before I could arrange a meeting, the JET ENGINE NOISE under the hood became louder.

I sought advice from mechanics in Saudi whom all told me it was the fan clutch problem. It stayed on intermittently for weeks, and I finally had it replaced (with labor, for about $250 USD).

At 96000 miles I had to replace the fan clutch. The replacement part was from AC/Delco.

Now at 99000 miles I'm hearing the same jet engine noise again. When it happens, the car doesn't accelerate normal.

The sound comes and goes intermittently, but since I just had it replaced, I'm sure there's a manufacturing problem. This sucks.

General Comments:

Comfortable ride at times, but this fan clutch problem (as you all expressed) is a pain in the rear end.

GMC is respected in SAUDI ARABIA; however, they have just lost one customer.

2001 Chevrolet TrailBlazer from North America

Summary:

So far we have enjoyed the Trailblazer and would certainly look at another when the time comes

Faults:

Windshield wiper recall to replace controls. No problems after fix.

Auto adjust outside mirrors do not always return to base position.

General Comments:

We use this vehicle primarily for long trips. It is very comfortable and provides all the space we need for luggage and accessories.

The vehicle handles well and has excellent braking.

The vehicle has shown a consistent 22.8mpg average city/highway.

We have had no engine problems.

We have had no drive train problems.

There is a little too much road noise, but not excessive.

2001 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS 4.2 Inline Six from North America

Summary:

Great to drive, but you will become friends with the mechanic

Faults:

All four brake rotors needed to be replaced at 33,500 miles, at a cost to me of over $700.

The rear wiper cannot be made to stay in contact with the glass.

Replaced both brake lamps before 30,000 miles.

The switch for the heater fan stopped responding to positions 1,2,or 3 at 28,000 miles.

The driver's door pad separated from the door (top forward position) at 15,00 miles.

The driver's sun visor cannot be made to stay in full forward position - has been unusable from day one.

Have had trouble with right rear door weather stripping coming lose repeatedly.

The driver's window does not recede fully into the door - hard on one's arm when driving with the window down.

General Comments:

I really like this truck, great to drive, engine as good as any I've owned.

Serious deficits in the design of the center of dash and console, almost certainly the worst out there.

Seats comfortable, ride outstanding.

Build quality and reliability issues will push me to another vehicle when this lease is up.
