Faults:

I have had the car for three months now with no problems other than having to replace the sun visor attachment point (made of plastic and weak when the visor is pushed in over time; cheap to replace however).

General Comments:

Bought this 300 base worried by all the negative reviews that it was underpowered, but I have found it to be perfectly fine. It accelerates like any other car, and cruises at 70 mph around 2300 RPM. Of course the car does not have quite the quick acceleration available with a V8 (even the 3.5 V6), but I don't need that and I do drive in a city.

It is a base model, and thus does not have all the creature comforts, but I am used to it now and do not miss them. I found some chrome hubcap covers, mirror and door handle chrome to bling the car up, and it looks great! The base model is highly customizable.

The big selling point for us was the low mileage when we bought it and the fact it was a one owner car. No complaints at all, and forget the poor reviews on the 2.7 V6, it's a fine engine and fuel efficient.

Faults:

Engine running cold in winter - new thermostat.

Climate control doesn't control! Blows too hot, going to try an air con re-gas... been to the dealer and no computer faults.

General Comments:

Worth the wait, as I have loved the 300c since it came out.

With the Bentley grille, it gets more looks than any Merc/BMW that cost five times as much.

Going to bling it up more with tints, polished rims, maybe air intake/exhaust mods...

Best looking estate (wagon) ever made, and great with two little kids and prams etc etc.

I like the 3.5 engine, and it seems better than my old Vision 3.5.

Very rare in England with this engine, as everybody buys the diesel (better MPG, but awful sound!)

Normal Chrysler reliability/quality.

Faults:

The stock Goodyear F-1 Supercar tires required replacement by 20000 miles. The tires performed excellent up to that point, and I've had a difficult time finding replacement tires that grip as well as the F-1's. I consider the tires separate from the car itself.

The first issue with the vehicle was the brake rotors. I never had a problem with them, but Chrysler issued a recall and replaced the original ones with nice slotted rotors for free.

The second problem was the cooling fans. They were quite loud, but functioned fine. Chrysler replaced them for free as well, as part of another recall.

The final issue was with the parking interlock unit. The failure of this device prevents the car from coming out of park. It is a plastic piece and should have been made of metal. Some cars can get this replaced for free via a recall, but some can't; your VIN has to be on their list. If you are not on the list, the part (metal version) can be ordered from other vendors, and there are plenty of videos online instructing the owner how to replace the part.

General Comments:

The car is gorgeous. It handles like a sports car, so don't expect a soft luxury car ride in the SRT-8.

If you are concerned with gas mileage, DON'T BUY THIS CAR! This car is not for those concerned with such things, and if you can't afford it, don't buy it, get an Accord or Camry. That $2000 gas guzzler tax should have been a hint!

It is a great car that no Japanese car can touch in terms of size, the look of class, and performance. German cars can't touch it either for under $50000. I also own a BMW 750LI, and I paid twice as much as for the SRT-8. It is a bigger car than the SRT-8, has a few more creature comforts, but has a weaker engine (400 HP), and I actually get more compliments on the SRT-8, go figure. It definitely was not worth the extra $50000.
