2001 Chrysler 300M 300m 3.5 from North America

Summary:

A contender!

Faults:

Nada, so far. Have had it for one month and no problems so far.

General Comments:

So far, after a little over a month of ownership, quite impressed. Have driven Volvo's for several years and intended to get another. Blundered into this car and was very impressed. This is the best handling American sedan I have ever driven, and I drive a lot of rentals. The suspension is very supple, with great dampening and flat cornering. (I did replace the front struts as the OEM's were a bit soft.) Fairly quiet. Nice shifting transmission. No leaks of fluids. Fairly comfy seats, maybe not quite as good as the Volvo, but what is. The interior bits seem well made. Reasonably good fake wood. On freeway I get 26 MPG at a steady 80mph. Only about 18 MPG around town. Very nice sound system (Infinity). Great acceleration. Very good headlights. Effective fog lites. I like the manu-matic transmission shifter, although it is basically just a gadget. Fit and finish are extremely nice, in and out. Much better than my friend's STS Caddy. Unlike most FWD cars, (Caddy included) this car has almost no torque steer... nice. Linear brakes. Intuitive climate controls. Snazzy chrome 17" wheels. Paint job is impressive. And this thing has a TON of interior room. If this car holds up mechanically, I will be very impressed.

That's the key phrase: "If this car holds up mechanically". Hopefully it does... I wouldn't wish car difficulties upon anyone.

I love the 300M. I have a 99 dodge intrepid es which is the exact same car as the 300M. of course Chrysler makes dodge. Well, I wish you the best with your car. My Intrepid which I got during my senior year in high school at 48,000 miles in 2002 was the perfect car. Now being a junior in college and the car now having 120,000 miles on it, its just siting out side not working. It has cost me a fortune to maintain. All kinds of issues has happen with this car. If you want to know about the issues with my car, which also affects Chrysler 300M, then check out my review titled good looking car, but financial nightmare. And by the way my car is a 1999 but they have it listed under the 1998 Doge Intrpid, just remember that when you check out my review.

2001 Chrysler 300M 3.5 from North America

Summary:

A good looking, comfortable and dependable car with good performance

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

300M's are unusually well-equipped with creature comforts with comfortable seats, roomy interior and very well laid out dash.

The fit and finish on the inside and outside is excellent.

The automatic climate control system is also excellent.

Mileage, averaging 22 mpg, is not as good as it should be.

Acceleration is good except for a lousy second gear which is too high and it takes the transmission too long to kick down into a lower gear causing the engine to lug down.
