My wife bought a used 95 Cirrus last year. It was supposed to be in good shape. Traveling down the street at less than 40mph the engine will just shut down. No warning light, just shut down. Have replaced the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve and fuel pump and filter. As of 2/12/04 we still haven't resolved this issue.

I have read a lot of comments like these, and had the same issue with my 95 Cirrus. The Throttle Control Sensor solved problem, after a variety of other high profile parts had been installed.

My 1995 Chrysler Cirrus LX costs up to $1000 matinenance cost. Brake oil and other things are being used up quickly.

I had the same problems with my 1995 Cirrus that only has 40,000 miles on it. It was my grandma's car, so it was well taken car of. The RPM's shot up at any given moment, even when the car was in park. The car die a few times when I was stopped at a red light. My car has been in the shop for two weeks. It will be complete today with them replacing the Throttle Sensor and the Transmission hose and the gas fuel hose.

This the worst car I have ever owned. After driving a 1995 Chevy Beretta for years with no problem I get the Beautiful "bucket" Cirrus. I have no idea what Chrysler was thinking with this nightmare of a car. Its constantly breaking down and the placement of a V6 on a front-wheel drive makes it a pain to work in the limited space. The best use for this vehicle is being sold part by part on EBAY.

Good Luck because you really will need it.

I also had a 95 Cirrus, and had much the same sentiments. The Power-train Control Module may be the culprit that you are searching for. It gave me the same symptoms, but beware it will cost at least $750.00 because it's a dealer part.

I just bought a cirrus 95 from a dealer and it only had like 85k miles on it, the car was pretty from the moment I saw it which I wish I never laid eyes on it really, it worked fine until like the 2nd week it would cut off when I came to a stop, and then finally one day I was backing out my drive way and the car jus cut off completely.

I bought the 95 cirrus (75,000) 2 days ago, and the first time it was on the freeway, it got stuck in second gear. If you see this car at the dealership, RUN AWAY!!! I sure wish I had.

I own a 1995 cavalier z24...it runs amazing..but now at any given moment it revs high and low and the check engine light comes on...I'm thinking its the throttle control, but I'm not sure...does anyone no?

I've only had my Cirrus for a few days, but I did notice that sometimes when I hit a red light or stop, the car shuts off, and I have to put it in park and restart it. It's very inconvenient. Other than that, the car is nice. I'm a little worried about the brakes though.

Ha Ha... You act like it's normal for a car to shut off when you come to a stop. I'm sorry to say that your car has a problem, it's not supposed to do that. I can't tell you what, only a proper inspection by a trained professional can do that. It could be many things though, from the torque converter to the MAP sensor.

I have the same problem with my 1995 Chrysler Cirrus LXi. It shuts off when I come to a stop sometimes.

It's a good car, very roomy and comfortable. But I cannot deal with the hassles of it shutting off. It's way too high maintenance.
