1995 Chrysler Cirrus LX V6 2.5L from North America

Summary:

Medium maintenance, good car

Faults:

Brakes needed to be replaced a few months after I got it.

Now rotors need to be replaced.

Had to replace the computer a few months after I got it.

Had to replace the Solenoid Shift pack 2 months after I got it.

Needs new distributor.

Constantly cuts off.

Had problem downshifting, had to have new transmission codes.

Was told A/C needed to be recharged, actually needs A/C compressor.

General Comments:

I got the car really cheap.

I've put about $2,000 of work into it.

I like the body and interior.

It cuts off, but gets me to where I need to go.

It has way over 100,000 miles and per my mechanic no major transmission or engine problems.

1995 Chrysler Cirrus from North America

Summary:

Too many electrical problems

Faults:

Over the last six months my car has not been running good. it turns off when I am sitting at a stop light or when I am about to make a stop. Now it will not start sometimes. I have taken the car to five different mechanics including the dealer and they don't know what's wrong with it, because it does not do it to them. I have spent so much money on fixing this car and nothing seems to work because it constantly has the same problem. I am in the process of purchasing a new car.

General Comments:

This car handles good and get really good gas mileage.

I have had the exact same problem with my Chrysler Cirrus. The most common issue with the car is the EGR valve, except in my case, it was a Throttle Control Sensor, which ended up being a $75.00 repair. Before the part was installed, the EGR valve, the PCM (computer), the map sensor, the idle pump and more had already been replaced. I would suggest having the Throttle Sensor changed if it is not the EGR valve.

Summary:

A high maintenance beauty

Faults:

Air Conditioner went out.

Seat handle broke.

Trunk release broke.

Car dies when coming to a stop.

General Comments:

I fell in love with this car the moment I saw it. Didn't have any problems until a few weeks after buying it.

The air conditioner did not work even after recharging it.

The car dies off and on when coming to a stop. Sometimes it doesn't die, but the check engine light comes on and the engine revs on it's own. I have taken it too many shops to fix this and nobody knows what's wrong with it. If anyone knows I would appreciate the help.

I love the comfort level of this car. It is very roomy and easy to get children in and out of the back seats.

You purchased this car with 84k miles. You don't know how the previous owner maintained the car. When you buy a brand new car you are the only person that knows how the car is maintained. You cannot judge the car because of the problems it has. This person probably had the check engine light turned off before selling the car.

Summary:

My opinion of my car is that it is/was a lemon

Faults:

I have had several major problems with this car. First, the ABS brakes go out and grind if you hit a bump and the brakes at the same time. Have had this checked at the dealer when the car was new several times, they could not find a problem.

Second, the electrical system goes out continuously. Sometimes when I start the car, there is no electrical power to anything including, but not limited to, the radio, air, heat, light panels and power steering.

Third, the air conditioning went up twice (luckily while still under warranty and Daimler was very pleasant and easy to deal with.)

Forth, I had a recall for some type of boot that goes into the wheel. I took the car to the dealer and they inspected it and said that it was fine. About 6 months later, I was driving in a community and this boot and rod thing (sorry, I'm not exactly sure what it is called) fell into my wheel well. My car was at that time out of warranty, but the manufacturer did pay for the parts (not the labor because I took it to a mechanic, not the dealer). My mechanic did tell me that I was lucky that I wasn't driving faster than 25 miles an hour because that could have caused a serious accident.

Lastly, the heat has never really worked correctly (including the fan) and it is currently not working at all.

General Comments:

I love the way this car looks and drives. It is comfortable and easy to maneuver.

Mine did the whole no electric thing sometimes when you started it.. it is because the key is stuck turned too far over.. I would just flip it back and it's fine. The biggest issue with mine is the transmission. I'm getting a new car tomorrow; I'm tired of the problems with this one.
