2004 Citroen C3 SX 1.4 from Isle of Man

Summary:

Interesting

Faults:

Breakdown at 2000 miles (coil pack problem).

Oil leak at 5000 miles (caused by a crash).

Air conditioning smells of hoover bags, & filter needs cleaning.

General Comments:

Generally a good car.

Had a few problems, but it was under warranty.

Interesting gear box (you can either choose auto or semi auto with no clutch, just gear shift).

Miles more interesting than my older Astra. Always had Citroens apart from the Astra. 2CVs, BX, XM, Xsara, AX, Dyanes, Amis. They're not the most reliable car in the world, but hey, at least it's not a boring car like a Honda Civic.

2004 Citroen C3 HDi LX 1.4 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Well recommended

Faults:

Nothing yet.

General Comments:

Absolutely fantastic so far! Only worries I have are from the hundreds of reviews saying what an unreliable cheaply put together car it is. Wonder everyday when it will go wrong. They must just have had bad ones.. right? As a previous comment, I too wonder what gadget I will find next. MPG is amazing compared to my 1.4 petrol Kalos before this and performance wise, you wouldn't believe you are in a diesel!. One warning.. check the boot space if it is essential you fit something in it. It is large, but it is not as wide as it could be. We mainly swapped the previous car to fit the pram in and found this car wasnt wide enough! Plastics are a bit on the cheap feel side. Overall an excellent car.. buy one!

2004 Citroen C3 SX 1.4i from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Excellent reliability and value!

Faults:

At 500 miles, the car started firing on 3 cylinders - taken back to dealer and diagnosed to a faulty coil pack. Fixed next day whilst we had a courtesy C3.

Nothing else - car has been impeccably reliable.

General Comments:

An excellent little car that is tough to beat for the price. The SX gets climate control, electric windows, auto lights & wipers, arm rests, CD player, fuel computer, all standard.

The ride is excellent, the handling not so, but still pretty good and predictable.

The fuel economy is excellent for a petrol 1.4i - 45-50mpg on a run - the on-board trip computer shows the current/previous fuel consumption.

The interior is a little plasticy, but the design is excellent and very unique - the whole car looks very individual compared with your Corsas/Polos etc.

Cheap to run, cheap to tax, cheap to service (every 20,000) - an excellent little car.

2004 Citroen C3 Exclusive 1.6 16v from Argentina

Summary:

Not a bad car, but has unreliable indicators and fuel autonomy

Faults:

After the first service, the car started to consume in excess. Had to change the fuel injection system for over consumption. This task to be completed took me over 10.000 km of use to convince Citroen the car used too much fuel. Consumption was amazing: 20lt/100km!! And they doubted to make the necessary repairs. After the service, it continued with such gas needs till an upgrade in the electronic system; this upgrade was made 5000 km after the last repair as it was not available at the time. But yet it never gets the fuel economy Citroen claims.

The alarm which was installed by Citroen, never worked well, and it's almost impossible to set it up on one's own.

Rear brakes were noisy when I first bought it, and still are.

Fuel gauge is faulty, doesn't indicate what Citroen states (never marks the 8 liters per led as it says), and never got it fixed.

General Comments:

Bad service attention given on post sales by Citroen, and lack of labor parts.

Fuel consumption is excessive for this kind of car (12.5lts/100km average) on normal driving (city and motorway).

Fuel tank is too small for gas needs. Not designed for these latitudes; you must be sure you have a gas station every 280 km or you'll get nervous by thinking you'll continue on foot. Disregarding climate condition (wind snow etc) and driving conditions.

Company statements are not accomplished.

Beyond that, the car handles very well, is quick and braking is awesome, design is good, and very well equipped.

However interior and suspension are very noisy; there are squeaks everywhere.
