No, it doesn't have a new engine, it has a new chip! And it isn't 2 seconds quicker, it's 0.3 seconds quicker! The only reason that's been done is because of the Zetec S being over 100 BHP. Don't know why, the Zetec S wasn't really a match for the 90 BHP VTR.

My VTR also had the paint come off the front bumper on the drivers side! Citroen dealer sorted it out. Before the service guy saw it he said "its the drivers side isn't it" so obviously from that and the comments I read here its UK wide problem.

The Zetec-S is a grown ups car, the VTR a kids car. With toy like build quality.

As for the Zetec S, go to the superchips website and see what a 1600 Focus makes actually (Ford quote 99bhp), you'll see it makes 111 standard. The Zetec S is tuned version of that and makes 115bhp. The only problem is that the engine needs a long time to free up. "What Car" ran a long term test car which did 0-60 in 10 seconds when new and 8.5 when it had done 17,000 miles. The Superchip gives 10-12 bhp and better mpg too.

Zetec what??? don't you know that ford stands for Fixed Or Repaired Daily, or Found On Road Dead! the fiesta is an old mans car with trolley like handling, driven an rs turbo...quick, but incredibly flimsy and that usual tickety tick of the ford engine, a tuned vts on throttle bodies is the way to go!

I have a 2000 w reg Saxo VTR (phase 2) the paint has blistered on the bonet it looks like wax or a film which is flaking off it... and the passenger side window the black trim has rippled. not the best build quality, but the car kicks ass! I will fix these problems as I bought it with them the car is mint 32000 miles hpi clear paid 2k. Handles like a dream and very speedy for a 1.6 8 valve car whoops my mates Mini one with his Super chip.

Yeah have to agree, the Saxo VTR is very decent for its class. Less outright power than a Fez Zetec-S, but certainly quicker off the mark, plus the phase 2 models give 42mpg apparently, which is brilliant. Definately enough to see off a Mini One and with low-range acceleration to worry a Cooper (9.2s to 60 compared to 9.1). Decent little motor the VTR, thinking of getting one :)

Hi mate, the person with the VTR who says that he is rippin VTS's; I don't quite believe what you say, as I've had a VTS and now I'm on my 2nd VTR; there is a lot of difference between them.

The VTS is one of the greatest cars I have driven. I'm now 30 and I have been driving for about 13 years, and racing cars, so I don't know why you are saying that your VTR with an exhaust and induction kit can beat VTS's. I somehow don't quite believe you.

Anyway, I will probably own one of the best VTR's in the whole of Britain and Scotland, as I'm a mechanic and I know the way forward for these little cars.

Nice cars those Saxos, yeah flimsy, I've had a mk1 VTR, and now a mk2 VTS. I've put in a full system including manifold; cost £600 and has changed the acceleration absolutely zero LOL. The top end is slightly higher, but I don't feel justifies the money I spent. So if you got either the VTR or VTS, then don't waste your cash on exhausts and air filters. Buy a decent stereo LOL.
