1995 Citroen Xantia TD SX review from Australia and New Zealand
"Great cruiser, not for the boy racer, an awesomely comfortable ride"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Mainly niggly things. The whole time I had it, there was a slight leak from the heater matrix, but it hardly used any fluid, so it wasn't worth the cost of fixing.
Most of the suspension spheres done.
Motor for the petrol cap lock died, so I removed it. Who'd want to siphon diesel anyway?
Key remote died, so I put an alarm in; cheaper than a new Citroen remote!
Turbo hose perished.
Belt tensioner, engine mounts etc.
Worst time was diesel leaks when sulphur was reduced by the government, resulting in a pump overhaul, and the alternator brushes died at the same time.
Given the mileage she'd done, the problems were pretty minor.
Was pretty hard on tires, but I suspect that may have been more my driving habits.
General comments?
A dream to be in. I love Citroen suspension. Judder bars (road humps) can be ignored when traveling around town.
Would still have it if I hadn't finally given in to my wife's insistence to get a green car.
Performance was way ahead of my previous non-turbo diesel; passing was still not quick though.
Mileage was great, and I've certainly missed that with my turbo petrol VW Passat since I sold her.
