1998 Daewoo Leganza CDX 2.0 from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Best car we have ever had. The whole car is a real step up from the our previous Fords (awful build quality) and Mazda (good car).

The car has been reliable, comfortable and the climate control and leather seats are excellent. Also a pretty good standard stereo, add to that the excellent warranty and friendly dealers. I can see why Daewoo's market share is increasing while others are falling! Keep this up and they will have a customer for life.

1998 Daewoo Leganza CDX 2.0 from Germany

Summary:

Daewoo - never again

Faults:

Automatic gearbox broke 4 times in 3 years!!!

Waterpump had to be replaced because it was leaking.

For some reason the engine consumes nearly 2 liters of oil per 5000 km and they cannot find out why.

General Comments:

I have already had 6 different cars and this one really is the worst. Daewoo - never again.

You owned Romanian Daewoo... They built the worst quality... Original Daewoo's were made in Korea... Its sad that transmission broke 4 times... Probably the mechanic didn't know how to fix it!!!

1998 Daewoo Leganza SX 2.0 litre from Australia and New Zealand

Faults:

Nil.

General Comments:

Has been very economical and has a good ride/handling compromise. The finish of the car was excellent from new and no rattles or noises have been heard after 18000 kls. The service has been good and running costs have so far been very low.

1998 Daewoo Leganza CDX 2.0i petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

1) In first week, an electrical fault caused a total power loss. I coasted to the roadside, called the AA (membership of which is included in the deal), who fixed the problem and had me mobile again within the hour.

2) Starting problems turned out to be caused by a faulty ignition key transponder. Using the spare key until a replacement arrived fixed the problem.

3) Drivers door electric window stuck 1/2 way up (had to be closed by hand). Repaired by Daewoo.

General Comments:

Overall, the best car I've ever owned. The whole warranty deal is to be applauded, in that it demonstrates a confidence in their product not shown by many car manufacturers. All of the problems mentioned above occurred within the first few weeks, and were quickly rectified (with courtesy car provided in the interim). Problem free driving since then.

I would be interested to know whether the driver of this car is still as happy as they seem to be in this entry. My experience of Daewoos seems to say that once they are out of warranty, you're stuffed BIG TIME!

All this happened in the first week?!

1998 Daewoo Leganza CDX 2.2 DOCH (D-Tech) (2.0 to euro from Netherlands

Faults:

BPD sensor afters 2000 miles. Check-engine lit up at higher engine rates. Sensor was replaced. It took two days for the engineers to find the problem. They said it was a hard job. Everything all right for already a small year.

General Comments:

Great car. Very good value for money. Nice GM engine (Holden). I had a Chevy Beretta before this car. This car is better.

1998 Daewoo Leganza CDX 2.0 from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Driver's front headlight leaking.

General Comments:

Automatic version is a dream to drive, I believe that the engine for the size and weight of the vehicle is slightly underpowered. The comfort and general ride, road holding and sound proofing are excellent. Leganza is excellent value for money.

1998 Daewoo Leganza CDX 2.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

When new (May 1998) the climate control worked in reverse ie cold = hot & hot = cold!! Daewoo put it down to a wrong servo motor being fitted during manufacture.

I currently (Jan 1999) have a headlamp that is full of water and an oil leak on the cam cover, I await parts!

General Comments:

Although I have experienced a couple of niggly faults, Daewoo have been helpful without fault, ie I was given a loan car (summer 98) for a 2 week driving holiday while the air con was fixed.
