Hi, I'm from Malta as well, and I have the same problem. Can you tell me where you bought the power steering modified version?

Thanks (kevin823@gmail.com)

Hi, I too am from Malta and have had this part changed twice by the agent. It seems to need replacing once again, but not sure if it will be done for free by the agent this time round.

Any tips about where I can have it fixed locally, and about the modified version you mentioned please?

Could you please tell me where can I find a reconditioned or new steering rack for my Sirion 1.3 Automatic? I need to change it too. Thanks in advance.

I am also from Malta, bought a Sirion 1.0 brand new in 2008, and up to today I've had no less than 8 faults in under 4.5 years with 52000 miles on the tachometer:

1. Brake pin.

2. Steering rack.

3. Left half shaft.

4. Right half shaft.

5. Worn out steering column spacer.

6. Downstream lambda sensor fault.

7. Fuel gauge marking empty tank after filling the tank (required a software reset).

8. Right suspension wishbone.

The first four faults above were fixed/replaced under warranty. The other 4 faults had to be fixed at my own expense.

Extremely unhappy with this car, supposedly coming from a reputable Japanese car maker. Will never ever buy anything from Daihatsu ever again.

I have a similar problem. Can you provide me with a contact and part number of the modified rack? I was told that the problem is my power steering ECU, and that everything else is okay. Toyota is recommending I change both the ECU and motor. If the modified rack is affordable and comes with the ECU and motor, it's an option worth considering. Thank you.
