The Datsun 1000 is a very well designed car and has excellent performance and economy due to it's low weight.
The design of the car is so simple that maintenance is made very simple. Even the most major overhaul can be attempted by the home mechanic with a basic toolkit.
The interior is somewhat small with poor leg room in the rear, but the seating is remarkably comfortable for it's age.

I have a 1000 ute with the 12A, genie extractors 3/4 inch exhaust and a 32/36 weber. Without a doubt the exhaust and extractors made the biggest performance improvement - these suckers are seriously under exhausted, few carby probs, but otherwise runs like a gem, motor was an exchange motor about 10 years ago and has been in 3 different 1000's, left in the yard for 2 years and never missed a beat. I have thought about the upgrade to the 1660 or 15A, but I have drums all round and wouldn't trust her to pull up. Any suggestions for easy (well, I'll settle for easier..) ways to mount discs?

Hi I am the proud owner of a DATTO 1000 ute it sports. *A12 motor, Lumpy cam, big webber carbs, extractors, and a 2.1/2" mock up twin exhaust from muffler back and its pretty impresive (chick magnet). Its painted in glossy 2 pack white, it has tinted windows its lowered and it lets the tunes out of two 6x9's.it had a bonet scoop and sits on 13x7 performance mags. Hey, I also own a datto 1000 ute, it has an A14, pretty much standard.
It is white with a Datsun 1200 diff, 4 speed Sunny gearbox,
I want to find out what discs can go on the front? and how to do it. I know how to change the camber on the front, but that is the only trick I know when it comes to datsun one thousands. As well as the whole sway bar setup.
Any advice would be great.

I currently own a Datsun 1000 coupe. It has a A10 engine with a 40mm weber. This is OK, but I need more power. I am opting a 12A turbo. This will fly like a rocket because of its light weight.

Hey everyone, letting my best little 1K trick slip here, so listen up. Here is the best cheapest disk brake front for your Datsun 1000.
MITS GK Sigma GSR rear disk, caliper and bracket
MITS 76 Lancer power booster 2 bolt type.
These Sigma disks have a internal hand brake drum, which makes the offset perfect, so you can use your standard hub caliper bracket. It just needs bit of mods.
As for fitting it, you should find it easy enough. I don't want to give all my tricks away!

Hey guys, I also own 2 Datsun 1000 4 door sedans; one is complete, and the other I haven't actually started on.
The complete Datsun is running a fully overhauled standard a10 motor & standard overhauled carb.
The body has been full stripped back to bare metal and fully restored. Painted in a sky blue (hot).
The interior is the only modification really; I have the white vinyl seats with the blue piping to match the paint work.
I've done my best in finding Datsun 1000 nos parts. This car has come up beautifully and is a massive head turner...

Hi people, I have got 1969 model 1000, 2 door sedan, currently doing up. its all std at the moment; need to update front disk brake. how do I lower the car? Its very hard with all the front strut system. I have done a Datsun sunny 1981 model with sr20det slipper, fast.
