1981 Dodge Aries 2.2 standard from North America

Summary:

A very reliable vehicle for me

Faults:

Usual things. Brakes, fuel pump and tires. Tuneup and basic maintenance.

General Comments:

I bought this car in 2000 with 80.000 miles on it, and it ran great. I paid $80.00 for it. WOW, what a great deal. It had the 2.2 4 banger engine it with an automatic transmission. It was white with red interior. Not much to look at, but it did its job so well.

It was by far the best buy I ever had. I did my homework on the Dodge 2.2 engine, and found that it was a work horse. This was their best 4 cylinder engine at the time. They used it in so many of their cars like the Dodge Shadow/Plymouth Sundance. I sold the car for junk because I hit a driveway that had a low drop in it, and it ruined the oil pan. Every time I put it in drive after I damaged the pan, I would hear a loud thump.

The engine had 140.000 on it when I sold it, and still ran great. If I didn't damage the oil pan, I might still own it to this day, who knows.

If you find one of these gems in good condition, buy it; if you don't, then contact me and I will.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Where do you find K-Cars so cheap? The 2.2 is a great engine, they should've used it in their Neons.

...and you couldn't replace the oil pan?

I didn't have the money at the time, and when I did get the money, I used it for a Toyota Camry, I mean who wouldn't? I needed the space, so I junked the Dodge. Just fell in love with that Camry, and had to have it.

I got it from a friend at work. His Grandma owned it, but she passed on and left it to him, but he hated it, thought it looked like a old people's car, so he said to me, it runs great, so hand me 80 bucks and it's yours. So I did. As I said, best $80 investment I ever made.
