It's spelled VTEC, and the reason you beat an integra is because it was a base model LS, RS, or GS. a GSR or type R will smoke you any day.

Can the things you put in your avenger be put in a mustang? Just wondering. Also your car sounds like a good one to have.

I have a 1996 Dodge Avenger ES automatic and wondering what can I do to get more horsepower/speed out of it. I put a air intake system in it and notice a little bit more power. I have an original Flow-master muffler that I am thinking about putting on the stock exhaust system, do you think it might help any? I don't really want to put something big in the engine that I will have to change the computer settings for it to run right. What would you recommend I could do? Note that everything else is all stock. I also don't want to kill my mpg to much.

I have a 96 Dodge Avenger. It's an ES model with manual transmission. I have had it for past 2 years now, and I have never been able to beat my dad's Honda Civic SiR; neither in 0 to 60, nor in the top speed.

So, I was wondering if all the people here who are claiming the beautiful Avenger to be a sports car put a brand new engine in, or were comparing it with a 1929 Honda Civic?

Me being only 15, I just my Avenger and I love it. I to just put a ti muffler on it; it sounds sweet and the intake will make a big difference.

I think I can beat a Honda.

Being that the motor is a zero tolerance motor, the pistons will end up making contact with the valves. Ultimately, this will kill the motor.
