1994 Dodge Dakota WS 2.5L from North America

Summary:

One tough work truck

Faults:

Was purchased from original owner with blown head gasket, motor was driven twenty to thirty minutes with stuck thermostat. It was a quick, cheap, and simple repair.

General Comments:

This truck has taken more abuse than any ten vehicles should ever see.

It has carried loads in excess of 3000 pounds, and pulled trailers weighing over 6000 pounds.

It's not very happy on the highway, but it does quite well around town and off road.

1994 Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab 5.2 V8 from North America

Summary:

Great value and Great Performance!

Faults:

Fuel Gauge & Pump @ 150K had the dealership handle this one. Has worked fine ever since. Gauge failed @80-100K and just lived with it til the pump went out.

A/C 150K fixed myself with help from a friend for $400.

Radiator 140K Water Pump wasn't bad, but did at the same time since it was basically right there.

General Comments:

Keep the IAC motor clean and the idle will be okay. I get 15-19 MPG.

Is one of the most trouble free trucks I've had.

I tow a 5,000 lbs camp trailer on trips and has lots of power.

Eats tires fast!

Oil burner.

General Comments:

Best truck I've ever owned.

Can keep up with friends 4.6L* mustang with all HP options. Yes 4.6L V6 in a 1999 mustang.

1994 Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab 3.9L V6 from North America

Summary:

Best kept secret of 1994.

Faults:

Replaced leaking heater core at 99k miles.

Replaced leaking A/C hose at 112k miles.

Infinity sound system quit this past week. Will replace/repair as required this weekend.

General Comments:

Seriously reliable mid-sized pick up.

Steady 24 MPG. Always.

Engine is as new, but slightly anemic in the power department. Always has been. Uses no oil though, even now at 163k.

Very comfortable & quiet interior. Excellent seat bolsters.

Very nice ride (for a truck), but takes new front shocks every 20k miles to keep it that way.

Tires last over 75k miles. Just installed 3rd set.

Factory installed Kelsey-Hayes 4 wheel ABS system extremely effective and straight in panic stops. User-friendly.

Location of power mirror switch seems like an afterthought. I've pulled it's knob off several times as it's near and feels like headlamp switch knob in the dark.

Both heater and air conditioner are too effective and difficult to adjust for comfort. Heater will fry your foot off and A/C will freeze your nipples without deft adaptation to setting climate controls.

1994 Dodge Dakota Sport 3.9 V6 from North America

Summary:

This truck is definately worth its price

Faults:

Replaced rotors at 110,000 miles.

Replaced water pump at 175,000 miles.

Replaced radiator at 183,000 miles.

Replaced clutch, pressure plate and release bearing at 214,000 miles.

General Comments:

This truck has been one of the most reliable cars I have ever driven.

This truck also has a lot of power even at 216,000 miles.

The comfort however, could use a little improvement. I now have a 2000 Dakota and the comfort has improved.

I also own a 1994 Dodge Dakota Sport and I wanted to know if there is enough room to put in a 5L V8 Magnum?
