1992 Dodge Daytona review from North America
"Best car Dodge has made in the last 20 years"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Exhaust systems failed at 62K, 104K, 141K, 189K and 239K. It eats them - they should have stuck to stainless steel, like prior Daytonas.
A/C condenser leaked at 110K miles.
Alternator failed at 132K miles.
Entire car was repainted due to peeling at 8 years/144K miles.
O2 sensor failed at 190K miles - better than average.
Fuel pump finally failed at 213K miles.
Catalytic converter rotted at 243K miles.
Fan wiring developed a short circuit at 250K miles.
General comments?
This has been the best car I've ever owned, without equal. Still has the original engine, tranny, clutch, all front end parts (even factory alignment has held!) at 256K miles. It gets 35 mpg and is lots of fun to drive, comfortable, versatile. I keep it because I can't find any other car I like better, and it still runs virtually like new. I have never done more than recommended maintenance.
