2009 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 3.3 V6 from North America

Summary:

Thoroughly enjoying it! Would recommend it!

Faults:

The only issue I've had with this car is a noise coming from around the real axle. The dealership replaced the brakes in the rear, and the noise has since disappeared.

General Comments:

The van has tons of space in the rear, even with the third row up.

We just had our second child earlier last year, and our old Bonneville wasn't looking that great anymore. We decided on the Dodge Grand Caravan, because we have had several Dodges before in the past, and they have been great.

We have enjoyed the van, and it has been great running our little boy to and from school (he's now six).

But, maneuvering it around New York can be quite hard. Even here in New Jersey, trying to park the van is quite difficult.

Dodge parts are unbelievably expensive. If you cannot get what you need from the junkyard, ebay, or autoparts stores, plan to pay outrageous prices. I found the parts to be 3 times more expensive than Honda parts.

2009 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 4.0 from North America

Summary:

Nice van, zero problems

Faults:

Today is the Caravan's one year birthday. After over 15,000 miles, we've had ZERO problem's. Everything works as they should. First car that we ever had to make it one year with no issues.

General Comments:

It's a mini van. Lots of room, lots of toys.

Went to Yellowstone and Glacier National parks last year. Over 3000 miles round trip. This is a perfect car for this. Get the 4.0 engine. It is fast, and good gas mileage. Low 20's at 78 mph and in the mountains.

Well, my first choice would be a 911 if I could afford one! Don't waste your money on a Toyota or Honda. Just had to replace a transmission on my Toyota! Toyota quality is a myth!

Based upon comments from the previous year's models, I firmly doubt you will still be praising this vehicle once you reach the 50,000 mile mark...

2009 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3L from North America

Summary:

Would not buy again

Faults:

My brand new mini van has a very loud, annoying rumble just before every shift. If you are traveling in a cruise at that speed, it is very annoying. At the 120 kph range, it is VERY annoying. I have had it in 3 times to the dealership. They say it is not that bad. First they said it was the torque converter not being broken in yet. Now they say it is an exhaust vibration. In any case, my Pontiac Montana was always quiet. I love the stow n go seats but not this loud noise.

General Comments:

Very comfortable with good gas mileage, however the loud noise just before shifts is annoying.

I bought a new 2009 Grand Caravan on July 28, 2009 and have the exact same problem you do with exhaust vibration. First I brought it back to the Dodge dealer and all they said is that "everything is up to spec" and there's not a problem. Today I brought the vehicle to a Midas shop and said there was nothing he could do since it is still under warranty. The minivan also rumbles loudly at idle.

Have you come up with any answers from your dealer yet? Anybody else have any ideas? My Grand Caravan isn't even 2 months old.
