I have had my 00' Intrepid ES just over four years. I'm at 68,000 miles. I have the 3.2L engine and so far I have had no engine problems (though I am keeping my fingers crossed). However, I have had issues with a low crunching/grinding noise from the left front-most wheel (likely the steering column or CV joint) since the 3-month mark. I have taken it in three times with no avail from the factory mechanics to fixing my problem. If anyone else has had this problem, send a shout out.

Hello I have a Dodge Intrepid Es with a 3.2 V6 engine. The best thing for the car is Mobil 1 10 W 30 synthetic oil along with a Lucas oil syntec oil stabilizer. Also a K&N air filter will let your engine breath cooler air. The most important factor is the "coolant" or anti-freeze. Make sure you use top of the line Coolant to keep the car running fresh. Also a set of Bosch Platimum spark plugs will make the car burn gas easier. Therefore less stress on the engine. If possible get a Borla Muffler to let the car work better. And please don't abuse the poor engine they are only V6 197 cubic liters. good luck.

Oh my, it's a little too late for me. I just bought one of these things. All the maintenance records have been kept up. It runs amazing with 108,000 K's. I will take the advice of synthetic oil and make sure I do not drive this car hard. Thank-you for all your tips. Pray for me, or else, I may have to be added to the list of lawsuits!

I too have a 2000 Dodge Intrepid. I love my car, but within the last couple of months I've been hearing the valves rattling (it sounds terrible) Just yesterday the censor light came on, it started missing I thought it was going to stall while I was driving. My husband took it to a auto store, hooked it up to a meter of some kind and it told us that the sensor is bad. He replaced it. It seems to run fine now. But the rattling still continues. I have 93,000 miles. After reading this site I feel its only a matter of time before something happens. Please send me information about the law suit. Thank you!! dlsemones@valink.com.

We have experienced the same situation. The engine blew in our 2000 Intrepid last year. The final cost was over $6,000 and the warranty didn't cover anything. Please add us to the list. I am curious why they haven't recalled these cars. But now that I have the new engine, I will definitely heed the recommendations for oil and filters I have found here. Thank you for that and any information you can forward us about the lawsuit.

I have a 2001 Dodge Intrepid ES 2.7L engine with 68K. I loved my car, until I replaced a Crank & Cam Sensor in August 2004. Every since, I have heard a knocking sound (even had it checked out) and then on October 28, 2004, when I am driving with my children, all of a sudden two loud bangs occur in my motor and a horrible thumping noise proceeds. And what do you know, my rod broke and I have to replace the whole engine. I have spoken with several mechanics and a Dodge dealership to no avail. All have told me the cost would be $5,200.00 to $5,500.00. I owe that much on the vehicle. I would love to join this Class Action suit considering I do work for attorneys and would provide any help that is needed. Please contact me about this lawsuit at chrystied@bellsouth.net.

I am writing this letter for my dad. Like most of the people here the infamous 2000 2.7L intrepid with 80K km blew up on us luckily we were on stop. He brought it to nearest dodge dealership and was told that it would cost him 6500 CAN for the new engine including labor. He also followed the maintanance schedule and have all the receipts. He would like to join the lawsuit as well. Please send us information at annerey1025@yahoo.ca.

Thanks,

Anne.

I cannot believe this car! I also have a 2000 Dodge Intrepid. It started out as a lease, then I re-financed it to get a lower payment... WHAT A MISTAKE! I wish I would have turned the lemon in after my five year lease was up! Unfortunately, I re-financed it after about 4 1/2 years, so not only did I pay about $18,000 in lease payments, but also $3,500 in r-finance payments. Now that the car is no longer running, I am stuck with a payoff of over $9,000!!! I was driving down the interstate and heard a squeaking noise, then it got louder. When I pulled over, turned the car off and then on again, it started knocking. Not only was I by myself, in the dark, on a highway, I had no idea what was wrong with my car. After paying to have it towed to my house, only to sit for a few weeks, then towed to a private garage to be stored... I no longer feel alone. The car is wonderful, and I have actually considered purchasing a used engine (which I could luckily buy and have installed for under $2,200) but why should I? How long would THAT engine last? Any information regarding the lawsuit would be greatly appreciated (imabratt25@juno.com). Is there really one out there? I really do hope so. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Hi, I own a 2000 Dodge Intrepid. I was told by my mechanic my motor was blown (2.7 engine). I was like you have to be kidding me. I only have 39,000 miles. I couldn't believe it. I was told sludge was built up in the motor. I am very upset. I am interested in a class action lawsuit. If anyone has info please email me. (Olsenbell@aol.com) Something has to be done. This is terrible. I had no warning. No lights came on oil lights or check engine light. It just doesn't make sense to me at all. I can't believe all the complaints that are out there. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Could someone please fill me in on any legitimate lawsuits against Chrysler for Intrepid failure? Last year, at less than 80k, I was told I needed sensors on my 2000 ES. I bought them and had them replaced. 3 days later, I was told I needed a transmission by 3 reputable mechanics. I saw the "sludge" in the oil pan. I had the transmission installed. They test drove it, told me to come and get it, but by the time I got to the car, it was doing exactly the same thing. We hauled it to a Dodge dealership and found that the computer had failed. There was another $550.00! I can't keep tires or brakes on the car (at 90k now, it is on it's 3rd set of tires, 5th set of "lifetime" brakes and the second set of rotors. Two of my power windows and 1 power lock are history. Both rear window seals are falling out. Now I'm noticing what seems to be a "miss" when the A/C is running. PLEASE HELP!!! I still owe $3500.00 on this car and I was offered $2,000 for it on trade-in. If there is a lawsuit that I could get in on, please help me find my way to it. Please contact bacdiana@aol.com. Thanks!!!
