What kind of backend problems has anyone experienced? We are having problems with the backend making a grinding noise. Thanks.

I have a 99 1500 Quad Cab 4x4 with the 5.9L V8.

The second day I owned it, I put on LT265/75R16 tires.

The rear end has a vibration that eats the tires. At 5000 miles I had to replace a tire because it had gone out of round (rear). I had to have the tires balanced every two weeks to make the ride bearable. At 10000 miles, Goodyear replaced the entire set of tires because another tire (rear) had gone out of round.

Dodge refused to do anything about it. They blame the tires. The Customer Satisfaction manager at the dealership told me the vibration I was experiencing wasn't as bad as others he had felt and that Dodge wouldn't do anything to fix it. He said Dodge calls it a harmonic spring oscillation.

I own a 1998 Dodge Ram 4x4 Sport with the 360 motor, it has 46000 miles on it. I pull a 6000 lb trailer up and down the mountains of northern Az. I get 9mpg when towing, and a steady 15mpg when not towing.

I just replaced the front brake pads, and that is the first major cost. I do have a leak in the windshield washer tank!!! I change the engine oil at 3000 miles and use slick 50, the transmission. fluid and filter at 15000 miles.

So far it has been a good one, none of the problems that are posted. PS I have always been a GMC owner, but, after two transmissions I decided to try a Dodge.

I own a 98 1500 Quad cab 2 wheel drive with a 360 auto. Have had troubles with the transmission from day one. The dealer kept telling me it was tire noise or harmonics. After 3 trips to the shop nothing was done (under warranty). At 45,000 miles the noise was so bad I took it back, now the transmission is bad (guess what, I knew that long ago) Now Dodge says I should have got a second opinion. Will never buy another dodge as long as I live. What good is their long warranty if you can't get anything fixed under it? Anyway the OD unit is out of transmission and I guess I'll let it rot in the yard, wouldn't wish this thing on anyone.

Well, I own the exact same truck. I have had no problems with it at all! I can't beleive that you had to repalce all that equipment! I do not know why you are having problems. Either how you drive it or your mechanic is trying to make money off of you. I now have 130,000 miles on mine. Replaced the factory defined parts. Not that it needed it if you ask me. I do a lot of towing and work with mine as well. The vehicle did go to missing for some reason. I took it to the dealer and the fixed it on the spot! I have changed oil every 3,000 miles. I am not sure what all you have put that poor truck through, but you obviously don't deserve it.

Transmission bad at 46,600 miles. Truck well taken care of. Anyone got any comments? Truck never showed any sign of the transmission going bad. Pulled in the carport one night and the next day it would not move. Also having trouble with the front end staying lined up.

Like all the Dodge Ram owners I know, I haven't had a single problem with my 01 2wd 1500 Dodge and I've already put 70,000 miles on her. From reading thru these reviews I've noticed that almost everyone who has had significant problems cannot seems to type their thoughts without mixing up their words. Perhaps these problems aren't with the trucks, but with the truck's idiotic drivers. Good day.
