1997 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 review from North America
"I love it, but I have to get rid of it"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The seal on the rear window has been leaking for about three years. The rear passenger side tire keeps going flat. The dealer told me that this is common because all the weight rest on that side. That excuse sounded like bull to me. After only 65000 miles the transmission started to go out. Paint is peeling all over the vehicle. The Dodge lettering on the tailgate is already peeling off as well. The tailpipe has rattled since almost day one.
General comments?
This vehicle drove well for many years. I am baffled that things are going wrong after only 67000 miles. I imagine the problems stem from age, 6 years, rather than mileage. I would love to have my truck fixed instead of trading it in, but my main reason for trading it in is gas mileage.
