1999 Dodge Stratus SE review from North America
"A serious punch in the pocket book"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I bought this car about three years ago and ever since then it's been repairs, repairs.
Just off the top of my head I've had to get these fixed:
The fuel pump went out.
The brake pads and rotors have created several trips to the shop.
The ignition fuse kept blowing only to find out it was because of my starter, that finally died at the dealership.
Leaking cylinders for another brake job.
The power locks have suddenly started chiming for no reason and sometimes while I'm driving. At first I thought I wasn't shutting the doors completely. Ding, ding, ding.
The engine would make a loud screeching noise early in the morning, which was suspicious because I'd just had all my belts changed. Then I found out it was the transmission filter clogged.
A resistor went out, with cold weather approaching, and I had no heat or air unless it was it full blast.
I also had a fuel leak and an oil leak at the same time.
General comments?
My two previous cars were Fords and I never had these kinds of problems that I do now. My next car will either be a Toyota or a Hyundai. Sorry American car manufacturers.
