My SX 2.0 has only 86K, and I need a new transmission!!!

I had the exact same problem as you 6 months ago with transmission fluid getting into the radiator, and radiator fluid thru the transmission.

I had to have the cooling system replaced and the transmission flushed. I've been worried about the damage to the transmission, and sure enough, now I need a new one.

I'll never buy Chrysler/Dodge again!

I've had my 2005 SX 2.0 since it had 8,000kms (it was a lease return). Never had any problems while paying off the 5 year car loan, but the moment it was paid off (literally within 12 hours, I kid you not!) things starting going wrong.

Cam shaft sensor got replaced at the 70,000km point. Now it's starting to stall out when reverse stall parking (it's automatic) and it will never repeat with the mechanic... Murphy's law.

I just paid $900 for all the brakes to be redone. Calipers, pads, disks the whole works. Brake line fluid lines broke in the rear (I've put 10k a year on the car, rarely drive it. The mechanic said the amount of damage looked as if it was a commuting car). I'm also told the front arm bushings need to be replaced soon, as they are cracking.

Newest development is that if the gas gets even close to the quarter tank mark, the fuel pump starts buzzing. I'm told that's another $800.

I also have the mysterious idle issue. There is a rattle noise when it idles occasionally. Took it to the Dodge Dealership, and of course they charged me a couple hundred to say there is nothing wrong. And as another person commented, if you turn on the AC, it suddenly goes from 500 to 750 RPM.

I have loved my car until I paid her off. Now it's time for us to part ways, and for me to go to Team Toyota with the rest of my family.

I have a 2003 Dodge SX, and it now has 280,000km on it. The car is in the shop every month. I don't have enough time to list all of the things I have replaced on it, but it's added up to over $7000 extra since I paid it off in 2008. I think I almost have a brand new car under the hood!

I'm scared to use the AC, as a few people have mentioned before, as my RPMs go up when I turn it on, and then my car acts funny.

The parking brake works too well - where it won't come off if I put it on (took about 30 minutes of reversing and going forward hard with my back brakes locked up to unlock it! Eventually those brake pads fell off and the parking brake let go).

The car idles now at 500 rpm at a light and shakes a lot! Oil light goes on randomly, but the oil itself is at a good level (thanks to me getting an new oil pan/etc.).

The transmission failed twice. Luckily within the warranty time from the first time I had it done.

Back axle had to be replaced a couple of years ago, because the mechanic said it was going to fall off.

And my ongoing problem, that no one seems to be concerned about but me, is that after going in the car somewhere... and making a stop to get milk or something.. when I return to the car and start it - my temperature gauge goes through the roof! "Ding ding ding ding ding". It comes down after waiting 30 seconds or so back to normal...

I hate this car. Although I talk to it like it's a good boy, I would love to get another one, but now my line of credit is too high, so that I can't afford monthly payments for a new car AND the minimum payment of the line of credit. So I'm stuck.

I have a 2004 Dodge SX2.0. Love this car! The car has 155000ks, and the only thing I've had to replace is the camshaft positioning sensor and the front struts. The CPS I replaced myself; very easy, 10 minutes. The struts just cost me just over 350 dollars. I change my oil regularly. I still get around 40 miles to the gallon. The car is a standard, and I use fifth gear as much as possible. Great car!!!

Just thought I'd add the latest problems to my last entry. It wasn't the release bearing, IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION!!! 61,000km and BOOM!!! There goes $2000.00 more in repairs. PS that's a used tranny.

2 days ago the speedometer, odometer and cruise control stopped working, and to make it worse, the fuel gauge is acting up. Thanks for nothing DODGE MOTOR COMPANY!!!
